Hi ladies if measuring small does that mean I will be overdue? Surely it does right as I'm not as far gone as they may have thought?

Does anyone know, or have any experience in this?

Thanks x

I dont think its necessarily the case (unless you are sure they have your dates wrong slightly) although my baby measures small although Im showing all the signs I havent gone into labour yet and Im pretty convinced Im going to go over! I think its just a waiting game really x

Hi didnt want to read and run... I measured small with my daughter by a few weeks....she was overdue but only by 3 days and weighed 6lb 7oz, im not measuring small with this little girl as such only by .5cm at last midwife app but to me im not as big with her as i was with DD, i think baby will come whenever he/she is ready regardless of anything. Try not to worry too much if they were that worried about size of baby you would be closely moniteredxx

Are you talking about fundal height measurements? Because in my experience they are quite inaccurate. If your bubs is measuring small, it doesn't necessarily mean your dates are off, you might just have a small (but perfectly healthy) bubs x

Yeah i am talking about fundal heigh measurements (measuring 4 weeks behind), just wondered if that had any effect on the time of delivery ie early late or on time. I was guessing later to be honest. But like most of you say you dont think it has any effect on that. Im pretty sure of my dates as i know when i ovulated, so i guess i will just have to wait and see...haha

Thanks ladies

Fundal height measurements can be really off. My fundal height is spot on for my dates, but may baby is measuring 2 weeks ahead in growth scans!

I wouldn't worry, baby will come out when it's ready. And if it's smaller than it should be there's no harm going over and keeping them in for longer! One girl I know went over by 2 weeks and had a 7lb baby- she was small for most of the pregnancy so I think she was relieved she stayed in longer just to get up to a good size. But it doesn't work like that always, or often probably lol. Babies come when they are ready. And as the others have said fundal height measuring is highly in accurate.

doesn't mean that at all hun, just means you may (or may not) have a slightly smaller baby. Those measurements are never usually very accurate as it depends completely on the height of the woman, the shape of the uterus, the position of the baby, how much fluid you're carrying etc. don't worry about it hun, it doesn't mean you're not as far gone as you thought you were x

I am also measuring a bit small and am convinced she will be coming late!

not necasserily hunni, my mum was always small with my younger sister and she was a week and half early......fundal height checks are'nt really reliable to be honest, as babies postion can alter it drastically xx

Well, in the days before scans my Mum didn't know her dates with my brother. They estimated how far gone she was by fundal height and she was even seen 2days before she went into labour and told she at least 4weeks left. Then my brother came at weight 6lb12 or something which was much bigger than me and my sis so he definately wasn't early.

My sister measured 2-3 weeks small and ended up 4 weeks too small at the end. Her two came on their due date weighing 7lb8 and 7lb10. Fundal height really isn't very accurate at all - have you been sent for a growth scan due to your measurements?

I'm 4-5weeks behind on fundal height and have had growth scans that show my baby is small. I think my baby might come late by 5days - a week as think they have my dates a little wrong but will just have to wait and see! I know ov dates etc. and the date they've given me is 5 days off.

Baby will only come when ready hun!
xx

dont even get me sarted on fundal height!! ive been measuring spot on all way thru my pregnancy up until this week ..then on wed my midwife said i was measuring 36 weeks (im 33) which i wasnt too worried about and then thursday the dr at hospital said am i sure about my dates cos im measuring full term ...talk about put the frighteners on me lol ...oh well, growth scan on tuesday so will see what that says

I wouldn't worry about those measurements. I've had 2 friends recently who have had there babies & they were both predicted big babies from quite early on. However both of them were 6lb something so I don't actually think they are very accurate at all in predicting the actual weight of baby x
