Hi my little man is almost 5 months now and EBF. He seems to be waking up to eat more than ever at night time. I lost count the amount of times last night. Probably not helping that he has nasty cold/cough at moment and also that i feed him to sleep every night. He cant go back to sleep unless i feed him. Anyone elses nights similar? Thanks in advance

Actually i was just thinking he slept better when he was newborn. Lol x

My goodness! My son is 5 mo and is the same... I feel like he will always be nursed to sleep and in our bed amd that me and dh will never get to procreate again!! (Sorry abiut the rant. ...) Idk what to do to get him to fall asleep on his ow n...

Have you started solids? An indicator they are ready can be waking more at night (ie. They are starting to need more than milk) :)

He could well have a growth spurt, though his cold will probably make his mouth dry and not feeling well will make him want to have that bit of comfort of his mum.
Personally I would not start introducing solids yet

I didn't mean to suggest that you need to start solids right away... Just thought I would mention that renewed waking is considered one of many signs that baby is getting ready for that stage :flower: (and indeed other things are considered stronger signs of readiness!)

Hi I have not started solids yet im waiting until 6 months to start introducing food. Im hoping to do BLW. He is still not sleeping well at night and his naps during the day are rubbish as well now. His bottom 2 teeth have just popped through so im guessing that has contributed to the night wakings as well.

We're not sleeping well here either. I had the same thought about her sleeping better as a newborn. We are up every 2-3 hours at the moment, and she is getting harder and harder to resettle...she has wanted to play at 3am for the past few nights! I'm sure it is worse when you have had a taste of better sleep then it is taken away....

Hi it is worse when you get used to them sleeping well and then it all goes out the window. You do get used to it though. Does your LO have a dummy? My little boy doesnt as he would never take one but most of the time i think he is waking for comfort and not from hunger x

She used to (and it worked a treat for resettling) but gave it up when she found her thumb around 2 months and has refused it since. Yes, I'm thinking my LO is waking for comfort too. Lately she has been waking at 10-11pm for the first time, whereas she used to sleep through until at least 2-3am. I always offer the boob (and she always seems hungry!) but I know she can go longer. I'm not ready to do any kind of sleep training though, so feeding is the only way to get her to stop screaming/go back to sleep!!

Exactly the same here! He has been asleep since 8pm and im waiting for him to wake up. Lol x

We had some success last night! She stirred at 11pm (heard her on the monitor) but self settled by rolling on to her front and then slept until 3am. She then went back to sleep until 8, yay! So better, although I didn't get much sleep as I was up and down checking on her because she was on her front (she can roll pretty well so I just left her to sleep). You can't win!

Hope you had a better night :)
