I bought LO a sleeping bag from Matalan yesterday. None of them said what tog they were. They just say this on the label:

Description
This cream teddy design sleepbag has a comfortable popper fastening with bear stitching across the bottom and over the chest.
Additional Details
Outer 75%Cotton 25%Polyester Lining100%Cotton Wadding100%Polyester Ex Trims
Care
Machine Washable - Helpful Advice - This sleepbag has been designed to have a tog warmth of less than 4.0, equivalent to a sheet and 2 blankets, it is intended to replace normal bedding. Do not use a sleepbag if the fasteners are damaged, it is ideal for active babies who kick off the covers Not suitable for babies under 10lbs or newborn Take care not to let the babies overheat, this sleepbag is for use in a cot or a crib. Do not use the sleepbag if the childs head can pass through the neckline when the product is fastened for use. Keep away from fire and flames.

Now I don't have a clue what tog it is or what to dress LO in underneath :/ it's about 19 degrees in my room at the moment and I imagine it will drop a bit lower tonight. Will a long sleeve vest and sleeping bag be too much do you reckon? I'm so worried about him overheating...

Sounds like it could be 3.5 tog? How annoyingly vague!

I use this link - https://gro.co.uk/pages/what-to-wear

I know it doesn't help much right now though as you're not sure what tog! If it were me I'd put LO in a long sleeved vest and leave a tiny bit of the bag unzipped at the bottom just to let some warm air escape.

Thanks for the link. I just went up to check on him and the room temp had gone up to 21 and when I checked LO he was roasting so I replaced the sleeping bag with a baby grow. Think I'd better go and buy a new sleeping bag tomorrow!

I normally go for 2.5 tog in the winter and it's easy to layer up or down. I think mothercare have some half price (or they did when I went in at the weekend) :flower:

Okay thanks ill have a look on the mother care website later if I get chance :)

The one I got for LO was 3-6 months, he's 4 months but has got really long legs, do you think a 6-9 months one would be okay?

I've never seen them size them like that. DD always had 0-6 months, then 6-12 months and now 12-18 months. DD is tall too, I's probably get either 6-9 or 6-12 so they last the whole winter. As long as the bag wont ride up over LOs head it'll be fine.

Most Matalan ones are like that. I find those ones in particular quite thick, thicker than the 2.5tog gro bags. Gro bags don't go much higher than 2.5 so I decided to quit buying Matalan ones.

They should make the actual tog more clear. Just wish I'd kept the receipt so I could take it back. Going on the hunt for a 2.5 tog one tomorrow.

Primark do a 2.5tog, and my LO wears long sleeve vest under it. Our temp has been 19-21C

That's really annoying. I was looking to buy a spare one for my LO for the winter so he can always wear one when when I'm washing the other and they had some lovely ones on zulilly but none of them had the tog rating either. We've been using a 1tog all summer as at time his room was 27c! Since the temp has dropped we're back in a 2.5tog and that is more than warm enough for him. Most of the bags I've used have been in either 0-6 or 6-18 month sizes. My ds has recently gone into the 6-18 size as he has long legs, but I think I could still squeeze him into the 0-6 if I needed to, they seem to have a reasonable length to them :)

Now you come to mention it I think DDs bag is 6-18 months, not 12-18. I've just bought an 18-36 month one for winter and it's ENORMOUS!

We don't have a system like that in the US that I know of. They just say cotton or microfleece or muslin, etc... But I'm in the South and it's hot most of the time. I haven't seen any online though either.

I know, they're so long aren't they! Dh always says it looks like ds is wearing a dress when I get him ready for bed :haha:

I've been and got a 2.5 one today from asda and its a lot thinner than the one from Matalan so the one from Matalan must be 4 tog or something :/

Same here in Canada. When my daughter wore them, I just put her in the cotton ones if it was a little warmer and fleece when it was cold.
