My little girl sleeps so well from about 8pm until 7.30-8am, BUT from around 4am she wakes a good amount of times just wanting her dummy put back in! At the moment she's in my room so it's no prob I just reach over and pop it in and she fast asleep before my hands out the cot!
This weekend we are moving her in to her room which she will share with her older sister (4yrs) and I'm wondering how i can try & stop this? That past week or so when she wakes I try and put the dummy in her own hand (as she can put it in herself during the day) but she's still half asleep and just hits my hand away and cries so I put it in for her and she asleep instantly!

My DD did this when she was in with me and for the first night she was in her cot in her own room, then just seemed to grow out of it. She still fusses when her dummy falls out and she's tired in the day but doesn't seem to bother as much anymore apart from the great trick that she's learnt where she takes it out and moans because she can't quite get it back in :dohh: hope I haven't just jinxed myself :haha:

FX'd the same happens for you!

I agree with pp it just takes time and they eventually learn to find the dummy and put it back in unfortunately. I put lots of dummies around my baby and she finds the closest on to her now.

I had that exact issue with my dd1. I still shudder when I think of those nights having to plug her in every hour. Only solution was sleep training. Otherwise it just got worse and worse.

Any chance she actually needs a feed at 4am? Sucking temporarily tricks some babies (depending on age) in to thinking they are getting fed, but soon their empty tummy wakes them back up again.
