Do any of you cloth mamas have trouble with babies not sleeping soundly in their cloth diapers? My 10 week old and I have been sleeping in the recliner for the last 5 weeks bc he won't sleep anywhere but in my arms. I thought it was just a phase but the other night I forgot to do laundry and had to use disposables for a night! To my surprise my LO slept all night alone with only 1 wake up and feed. Anybody have any advice to get my lO to sleep more soundly in cloth? Do you think it is co-related or just coincedence that he slept great in disposables? I really don't want to have to use disposables at night! Btw I use Flip diapers with the thick Organic inserts for the evening! Thankyou in advance for your help and advice!

I did exactly the same as you when my first LO was really young - we had a sample eco sposie and I used it and LO slept through for the first time ever. It was a fluke, unfortunately!

However, it could also be the case that what you're using isn't keeping LO comfortable. Are you using a stay dry (fleece or suedecloth) liner with the organic insert? If not, your LO will be feeling quite wet as soon as there is a wee in there. If you are using a liner, is the nappy absorbent enough? Even fleece can't keep LO dry if the nappy is sopping wet.

If either of those is the case, you could try boosting the nappy - maybe try using a stay dry Flip insert on top of the organic insert - it will keep LO feeling dry and should absorb the wee quicker than cotton alone.

Thank you Rachel! That is all great advice! I really appreciate it! Going today to find some fleece liners to help keep my heavy wetter dry! :)

I was going to ask whether the Flip inserts are stay-dry? If not, definitely use a stay-dry liner (always, not just at night). I use Flips (which I love) with a range of mix-n-match inserts, but I always top it with a stay dry fleece liner (Thirsies?). But that said, if the diaper is over saturated, you babe will still feel wet.

Another vote for stay-dry liners............................. Or it was a fluke ;) The sleeping does get better :)

I put LO in a disposable overnight now as we've found they're slightly better than our cloth. We've tried every brand of nappies now and she still leaks through them all, just less so in a disposable :(

it could also be that your baby is so small that the diapers are too big. we found that when chloe was little, the bulk of a one-size diaper made her uncomfortable while sleeping on her back.
