Hi everyone,

For about the past week or so Ethan has been sleeping through the night, from about 9pm -8am. Because of this he has dropped a feed from the middle of the night. He has no interest in taking extra during the day and will sometimes not take alot cause of he reflux. Should I be waking him about 11pm for a feed? Is this whats known as a dream feed? I do panic that he is not getting enough especially with the reflux. He's 15 weeks on Friday and was 13lbs when last weighed!

Hey there,

I am by no means an expert but I'd say as long as he's getting plenty of wet nappies and his poopies stay a similar consistency, then he should be fine. You could always take him to be weighed more regularly if you wanted to be extra sure.

Emms was around the same weight at 15 weeks, and has never been a big drinker (always had less than the guideline amount on the formula packet!).

You could try a dream feed, I found that most of the time Emms would be too sleepy when I tried and only ever took a few ounces.

HTH x

I have always been told that if they need a feed, they will cry for it. My LO has been sleeping through since about 8 weeks, and we've never fed her the extra feed. You may also find that they make up for it during the day by having an extra ounce or so in each feed.

Daisy started sleeping through last week (6 weeks). I find that she sometimes takes an extra feed around 6-7pm (she's normally 4-6-9/10 now).

Omar started to sleep through for 12-13 hrs without feeds at 12 wks. If he's happy about it, & is taking enough feeds when he's awake, there is no need to disturb his sleep & offer him a dream feed.

My LO is 11weeks and is sleeping through and dropped a feed. She isnt taking any more but is healthy and happy so dont worry. :flower:

Thank you all! I think I am paying far too much attention to the guidelines on the Aptamil carton. He has started to take alittle more in the evenings so hopefully it's leveling out now!x

Pay no attention to the carton.

My Anna was dropping feeds and I was always worried - still am!

She has been taking a max of 24oz a day since about 3 months and never upped that amount. According to the tub she should have been on 30oz then and now 35oz. But her weight is going up so she obviously doesnt need anywhere near those amounts!

Enjoy the extra sleep you get.:flower:

Megan was taking 6 x 5 oz feeds when she started sleeping through and dropped a feed, I now make her 5 x 6oz feeds, some times she takes the 6 sometimes not but I still offer it just incase she wants it.
