I could really use some thoughts on this....good or bad....just tell me how you see it.

I had a followup internal scan last Wed which was 7 days after my first scan. I am 6.5-7 weeks pregnant (pretty darn sure about dates) but things look to be lagging behind. At 7 weeks the yolk sac was more defined and there was a 4mm fetal pole (not seen a week before) but still no heartbeat. Most concerning was the gestational sac only grew from 8mm to 10mm (it should grow 1mm per day). I'm about 7 weeks, the baby measures 6 weeks and the sac measures 5 weeks. I just have to wait a week and look again. Not looking great but I can't give up hope. Any thoughts? Similar stories? Did the baby develop or did you have a miscarriage?

I'm not sure hun. Usually doctors aren't concerned unless its 2 weeks difference in dates. That being said, I would think you would be able to see the heartbeat at this point. Although it does depend on a lot of things...and it IS still early.
I will keep you in my prayers! I wish I could be of some help to you...so sorry.

I have nothing to compare this to.. When I had a blighted ovum there was just an empty sack. I'll keep you in my prayers

My son had been 5 days behind then a week behind and then caught up in the second trimester then was 1-2weeks ahead by the third trimester. And now here he is :) so slow progression doesn't always mean it is over

I'm updating in case anyone runs across this thread later. The 8 week scan showed no growth of the sac (10mm) and that the baby has shrunk by just a bit (4 to 3 mm). The Dr. said she could also see where the sac and such is starting to detach from the uterine wall. Definitely a miscarriage in progress. I'm sad that it didn't work out but mostly right now I feel relief that I have an answer and can move on.
best wishes to the rest of you!

I'm so sorry :(. I am in a similar boat waiting to find out if my lo is progressing or if I'm having an mc. Best if luck in future pregnancies Hun.

I'm sorry slg..:hugs: I went through something similar. I went in at 8 weeks - baby measured 6 and heartbeat was slow. Next week, no heartbeat. Take some time to yourself. It's hard, but remember that there are people who know what you are going through and sympathize with you. :hugs::flower:

I'm so sorry to hear this news. <3. I have seen slow rising levels work in one case, BUT the baby had severe anencephaly diagnosed in week 20 and I think was termed.

Big hugs and lots of love. Hope to see you back in first tri when you're ready.

Lucylake, part of me is relieved. As sad as it is I would rather nature take care of the unhealthy pregnancy than force hard decisions on me later about an unhealthy baby.

Sig76, though it was very hard, I reached the same conclusion much later with our miscarriage. I had taken the morning after pill within 12 hours if my husband getting a little inside accidentally and still became pregnant. In week 3 never thinking I'd get pregnant on it, I took DayQuil and Advil for a common cold. Our baby just never had a hb. We had scans at 5w3, 6w0, 7w0, 8w0. My husband was one and done for 9 yrs, hence the morning after pill.

I'm incredibly sorry for your loss. I too wonder about the anomalies our child would have had and I know I couldn't have termed.

The case I mentioned was particularly sad as there is just nothing you can really do about anencephaly.

I'm so deeply sorry <3 :hugs: <3
