Basically ive been having my hcg bloods every 48 hours since Sunday because of bleeding and cramping and they were; 21, 31 & 42... they aren't doubling but still rising. Today the doctor mentioned ectopic... i am petrified. we are supposed to be flying away on summer holiday a week tomorrow and nobody can give me an answer on whether i should cancel. i am booked in for a scan tomorrow but as i am only 4 weeks 3 days i am pretty sure they won't see anything and will say keep repeating hcg test every 48 hours. Doctor mentioned injections for ectopic and also 'going in to have a look around' ?!?!?! i haven't got a clue what i am expecting to happen, all i know is my hcg isn't playing ball BUT i have not bled since yesterday and my sore boobs are slowly coming back where as they did go completely back to normal a few days ago. the nurse said because my hcg is slow rising then it is expected to have some symptoms but wht disappear and now come back? does this sound like an ectopic? :( x

I'm sorry you are going through this. It's always so terrible to not have a pregnancy progress. It sounds like it could be chemical or it could be ectopic. My friend had an ectopic and hers were slow rising, then they would fall, then they would rise again. Her levels never got into the 3 digits and her fertility specialist said it would be impossible to see anything on an ultrasound because the HCG has to be in the thousands for that. They ruled it ectopic after a week of the levels slowly rising and falling and she was given methotrexate. I hope that isn't the case with you and if it isn't a viable pregnancy, hopefully it's just a chemical which is the lesser of the two evils. Again, I'm so sorry.

Im sorry to hear that. I hope you are just one of those women with slow to rise hcg. It is probably best to prepare yourself for any scenario though. If it is ectopic that is good they have caught is early on and can do something about it before it ruptures. Good luck :hugs:

Numbers don't necessarily double in 48hrs, yours could be on the 72 hr end.

However, if it is ectopic, unfortunately they won't be able to see anything yet or even in a week. Both of mine were caught around week 7-8. If there is a possibility before you leave that it's ectopic you need to get it taken care of before you leave or cancel the trip. I never had the shots, so not really sure how that affects the body, but the surgeries are a pretty fast recovery time as long as you're not doing anything strenuous. No running, lifting, swimming, etc. I went shopping all day 3 days after my surgery though and it was fine.
