does anyone else have this problem? we wash our bottles with hot soapy water everytime and rince rince rince but they have this disgusting that you cant get rid of :( does anyone else have this problem i think im going to have to pop out and get some new bottles tomorrow :(

Yep, I have to regularly put them in the dishwasher or they smell. It is the grease I find hard to get out....

We have like a washing up liquidy smell with ours, we sterilise them aswell x

Are you still sterilising? Our nuby cups can get a bit like that but after a sterilise they are good as new.

yes we have the TT steriliser  they smell vile like dirty dish cloth smell ?

Similar hun, i just thought that was the smell? lol!
LO is only one 2 bottles now so i think i might replace them x

Yep, ours do too, we have the tt steriliser too. Have you tried boiling kettle and leaving them to stand with really boiling water and liquid in?

no i havnt tried that my OH seems to think its the smell of burning plastic - but like i thought bottles were designed to withstand sterilizing heat?

Yep, i get this with my TT bottles! not a clue what it is but me and OH found if they still smell after a good clean and sterilise then we put them back in the sink in hot water & washing up liquid then sterilise again and it goes away. Its a pain in the arse but its got to be done really xx

I'm new to this but haven't noticed a problem with our bottles. We cold water sterilise, maybe it's your steriliser?

i have no probs with the tt bottles however my tt steam steriliser reeeks to high heaven stopped using it use cold water one now and no probs

Our really pong now. It's only been this past week, like yours, it smells of dirty dish water. I've been blaming OH for not washing properly! :haha:

I actually dont have the answer, I just have to wash them a couple of times... maybe it is time for new ones, these have lasted her 7 months, which I think is good considering they get used daily!

:flower:

I only use mine occassionaly for an EBF but I use my steriliser daily for my dummies. Now and again the sterilaiser stinks. But I give it a wash in hot soapy water and problem solved. Should add it's the microwave one I have.

iv not had any bother at all with my tt bottles or steriliser. i wash my bottles in hot soapy water and give it a good wash with a bottle brush. every week or 2 i wash the steriliser as well with boiling soapy water and wash it with a bottle brush. u can get steriliers tablets might be worh getting them 2 use then wash out ur bottles pop them back in after xx

Soak them in Milton tablets solution for 30 mins, it will get rid of the smell. I cold sterilise Omar's bottle from time to time because of the smell & it works. I still sterilise his bottles in the steam steriliser once or twice a week & sometimes I put them in the dish washer, the only way I found to get rid of the smell is Milton tabs xx

what are milton tablets?

its the BPA free bottles I am afraid; they are more porous and thus absorb bad smells more easily. OmarsMUms idea sounds good; I also used to use a product called dr bronners sal suds its a cleaning product made out of natural ingredients, expensive but you only need a tiny drop to clean several bottles and I found it would clean absolutely any residues off (both smells and physical residues) xx

You can find them in supermarkets, & Mothercare sells them xx
