After coming off the pill last year, my periods have been all over the place. My last period was in Nov, I'm currently on CD 165!!!

I've been on 1500mg of Metformin for 5 weeks and this morning I've had my first ever smiley OPK! :happydance::happydance::happydance:

I just wanted to share my excitement!!

Yay clefairy (love that name, always tempted to burst into pokemon clefairy noises ;))

Do you chart at all? x

Haha - my username is based on Clefairy from Pokemon! :) When I was younger I always used to burst into Clefairy noises, just like you mentioned. Hehe.

Nope, I don't chart at the moment. When in the best time in a cycle to start? Or can it be anytime?

I tried Preseed for the first time as well this cycle, so here's hoping something finally works. I'm now in the 2WW. Fingers crossed!

Yay, how exciting for you! Got my fingers crossed for you :D Just a quick question - did you start taking metformin mid-cycle?

Yes, I started taking Metformin mid cycle.

I basically went the doctors and said, 'I've had no O or AF for 5 months, please help!'. I was then given a prescription for Metorfmin. 5 weeks later, I've finally got the big O! Even if I don't get a BFP this cycle, at least I know the medication is doing something. The doctor suspects I have PCOS. :(

were you taking opks for all 165 days?? and congrats on the opk!!

Nope, I started testing on cd12 and after using 20 of them and getting empty circles (using the Clearblue digital tests) I got disheartened. Plus they are so expensive, I decided to stop.

I did some research and found a saliva opk, which gives you a ferning pattern, when you are ovulating. Plus its reusable, so you've not got the expense of buying new ones all the time. So when I started the metformin, I started using the saliva opk. Then a couple of days ago, I got an intense ferning pattern, so thought I'd test using the Clearblue opk and got my first smiley!! :)
