how people can think boy or girl...they are our children,,we are supposed to look after them as parents ...no matter what gender...they are just kids

I highly doubt that victoria beckham actually thinks like this btw. Never believe anything you read...

No idea. Although I do read some posts and hear the way some people talk like having a boy is a 2nd prize! Drives me nuts of course! Maybe that's what they mean! Stupid thing to say though!

What!??!! A healthy baby is a healthy baby! Simples!

(if I'm a bit honest I'd have liked a boy for my first purely because I always imagined a big bro/lil sister family but when they said girl at 20wks I thought she'll just have to learn to look after herself then!)

As for SMOG???? Utter shite created by a media with no idea of what real news is. Only good for fish n chip wrapping (if the EU didn't say that was unsafe and unhygienic!)

Maybe they think all mothers are self obsessed superficial bitches who spend all their time in salons getting extensions and fake tan. (before I get ribbed for that I'm not against it, I just mean in a stereotypical way). I guess people think women want a girlie little mini me which obviously wouldn't work for a boy.

Personally I'm having a girl and won't be forcing anything like that on her, I'd of been just as pleased to have a boy.

Haha this made me laugh!

The media assumes everyone is as full of crap as they are. Personally I prefer boys! I am having a girl but she isn't going to be some kind of mini-me. I would prefer her to love trucks, science & running around like her brother! :happydance:

Aw girlys are lovely! Its just cos youre used to a boy, I feel the opposite way cos im used to a girl.

Oh I know it'll all be different when she actually turns up. I already have a tonne of cute clothes for her to wear  But I did do that for the wee man too anyway!

Having a girl scares me tbh. Theres a lot of pressure on girls I think :/

Well I am going to be a SMOG. I'm kind of in Victoria Beckhams position (minus her fortune!) of having 3 boys and now I am expecting a girl. I didn't plan on a girl just a baby and I fully expected to have another boy, but now that it is a girl its like a missing piece has been filled or will be when she arrives.

I love my boys but bringing up 3 boys is a bit like Deja Vu. They all liked the same things, the house is full of cars, trains, power rangers & footballs. They all play in football teams and that means spending Saturday mornings standing on the touch line in the pouring rain and freezing cold. Now the boys are raised to an age where they can go off camping, bike riding etc with their dad and I'm left home alone, i'm not the outdoorsy type and as much as I try I hate it (also I'm not someone who goes to the salon & has my nails done every week). I'm not saying that my girl won't be allowed to do these things and play with the boys toys but I will be encouraging her to play with girls things and wear girly dresses, and I'm looking forward to doing her hair.

I live in a close where there are 9 boys and 1 girl and one of the mums of 2 boys never wanted a girl and when they got 2 boys didn't have anymore in fear of getting a girl. Some women don't desire a girl and some desperately do. You can't help how you feel.

My favourite thing about my boys though is they are incredibly cuddly and protective over me (I would not swap them for the world). When we watch a movie, the boys and I are all squashed on one sofa and my DH is on his own, I am also hoping for a Daddies girl for him. I was a Daddies girl and I loved my cuddles with my dad, I want him to experience that.

I'm scared of changing his nappy more than anything

Can't be any better/worse than girls. I've heard plenty of projectile poo/pee stories from girls too!

I guess a lot of women see girls as more of a doll if you get what I mean?

I know a girl who always went on about wanting a girl, shagged everything she could to get pregnant and was convinced she wouldn't have a boy coz it wasn't what she wanted. She actually said having a girl would be fun to dress as a Disney princess :/. She ended up having a boy and tbh doesn't really bother with him at all, she's always getting her family to look after him for days on end. When she found out I was pregnant she wasn't happy which considering I'd been told I'd never have kids and now here I am, made me think she was more of a bitch than ever. But as soon as she found out it was a girl, well if looks could kill I'd of been dead within seconds, she made and excuse and left and now keeps asking me if she can look after her. Why she thinks I'm going to let her use my daughter as an accessory is beyond me. There's always going to be people who don't appreciate what they have, seems the smogs as the media have portrayed them are these kinda people.

But on the other hand I do think it's nice when you have a number of same sex children and get the opposite sex next time.

I'm personally used to being around my nephew so know how it is with boys so this lil lady will be a new challenge.

Its sort of saying boys are 2nd class to girls, I love my little sausage man so much, and I can't imagine not having a boy now, everything about him is just ace, I imagine I'm going to be equally smug about both of them!

I'm having a girl and am hoping that she's a tomboy!

I hate frilly, pink, girly things.. Obviously if she likes those things then that's absolutely cool, I just won't know where to start :haha:

I think that the term 'SMOG' has just been started to slate celebs, as usual..

im smug to be having a boy!!!

I was totally dreading it being a girl! pink, dolls, fairytales OR fast cars, robots and superheroes!

going by my stepdaughter as well, id hate havign a girl, they cry a lot, act really precious and cost a lot more than boys. Plus my two boys are the only ones to carry on our fmaily name. Ive never been a girls kinda girl myself i get on much better with men so in all honesty im quite releived.

Victoria Beckham can not do anything right. So many women here on BnB have a 5-10 year age gap with their children, but VB must be doing it for a girl, right? She gets crap for bottle feeding, and now she gets crap for breastfeeding. She's a bad mother because she "lets nannies raise her kids", but she gets crap for walking around holding her new daughter instead of using a stroller. She's a backwards unattached mother, and she's too overbearing/attachment parenting. She's apparently going to treat this little girl like a doll yet the baby is only seen wearing a simple black & white 2 piece suit?

Like someone else has said about her, she cannot even fart in the right direction to satisfy enough people! She's obviously a very good mother, too bad she has a dartboard on her face!

i'm also smug to be having a boy :D hehe who knows i've also noticed that people get more excited about girls, i don't understand it personally

i have no idea, personally i much prefer boys and am over the moon to be having my second son, girls are way too wingy for my liking :haha:

Yeah i'd say alot of ppl want a girl for the fashion factor, dressing them up, doing their hair ect, look at katie holmes, she's like a smug mother, her wee girl wearing high heels ect.

My little girl is a tom boy, so no chance of that for me!

I have a little girl I remember feeling delighted and even smug lol now I'm having a boy and I feel just as delighted I think most people are happy whatever they have x

We'd like another boy as boys are easier (but aslong as it's healthy). My daughter is a complete madam. One girl is quite enough in my family me thinks lol.

I have an aunt and some cousins who were so disappointed that I'm having a boy - he will be the second grandson on that side, so I guess they were all hoping for a girl. And I truly think that it's because they wanted to shop for girly things.

I don't see babies and children that way - they are not dolls to dress up and play house with - they are human beings that are a miracle and a gift.

Boy or girl, I am just so thrilled to be having a healthy baby with my husband. And that is something I am smug about!!! My son is already a little prince and is very loved by his parents, grandparents, uncles and aunts.

I don't think all girls act precious or whinge. Similarly they won't all like pink and want to be princesses. To a certain extent, its about how you bring them up. Personally I don't really like the whole princess notion as I think it can set children up to expect more than they actually get (my opinion) and make life seem like something easy that requires no hard work. I will be definitely trying to NOT make my LO think she is a princess.

So I'll be doing the same with my girl as I have done with my boy, and he turned out ok! He likes facts, science, anime, diggers & cars, drumming, kitchens, making me tea and some dolls. So a bit of a wide variety... :haha:
