Anyone else a smoker? I'm finding it realy hard to quit think the most I could do was cut down to 3 a day.. Any tips?

Lool, No i haven't but i would love 2know too!!!
I use 2smoke alot but since i found out im pregnant ive cut down 2about 7 a day still alot but better then what i was smoking b4 x

I wasn't this bad with my last one.. Think after about 12 weeks ciggys had this god awful taste to em and i cut down straight away.. Why can't it be that easy :)

Haha, same with my first i was fine, still smoke about 2-3 a day stupid really but it was better then smoke like 10-15 a day.
But like you said like time its harder...I need help too :)

I quite cold turkey the day I was ovulating. Got pregnant that week so good I did. I quit cold turkey. I don't mean to be rude but i UNDERSTAND i smoked nearly pack a day before I quit and I did it. yeah I suffered! so what

I quit smoking last year, i read a book called the Easy Way by Allen Carr (not the comedian lol), its really good and i have had no cravings at all! good luck x

Think I might have to go cold turky I'm realy paranoid about MC :(

You should. And after 1 week you don't suffer anymore, your just mildly annoyed. I promise!

Well when i fell pregnant in 2008, I quit everything - ciggies, alcohol and ate everything i was supposed to, whilst taking all the right vitamins - you name it, I did it and I miscarried :-(

With the twins I smoked throughout the pregnancy (albeit cutting down to the bare minimum) and I have 2 healthy 9 month olds

I'm not proud of myself and whilst I don't encourage anyone to smoke whilst pregnant, I don't think one or two a day are gonna do any damage either

I've had one cigarette since I found out, and that was partly because I didn't fully believe it at the time. I don't know how I've really done it - I just haven't had any desire to smoke since then. I think that it's just been drilled into me that you don't drink or smoke during pregnancy, so I don't.

Just because one person gets lucky and smokes and has a healthy child doesn't mean you, or rather your baby will be so lucky. If your child is affected for the rest of it's life, do you think you'll look back and still think it was 'too hard' to give up? Will you think you did all you could?

The nhs run lots of support groups for pregnant mothers who are trying to stop smoking.

I got offered it but I thought I did such a good job cutting down from 10+ to 3 that I'd give it a go by myself :)

I also quit cold turkey and I smoked at least a pack a day sometimes more. As soon as I found out I put them down and only had a craving like 2 or 3 times those first two days and none after that. They say it only takes a few days for your body to kick the nicotine then rest is just personally breaking the habit. I think it helps knowing you're doing it for your baby to make them as healthy as possible. I know people that smoked throughout pregnancy with no bad affects but I know some whose babies had problems. I think the chances of something being wrong with the baby is way higher than not and who wants to take that chance? It's not worth it. No offense to anyone at all...I just want to help! I never thought I could quit at all....some how I did though!

Hi! I have a great book recommendation for you. ITs called "The Easy Way to Stop Smoking" By Allen Carr. Its a great book, really easy to read and makes a lot of sense, My dad read it and quit cold turkey. I see another girl on here mentioned it too!
ITs worth a try!!

Lol thats how i quit last september (posted it earlier on) it really does work!

oh my god I Think everyone who is smoking while pregnant and having trouble should try reading it!!

Well I been smoking for about 7 years, as soon as I found out I was pregnant with my daughter I stopped immediatly, however when she was about 3 months old i started again (obviously not inside of the house), and was the same with this pregnancy as soon as I found out I cut down to like couple of pulls of my partners then 3 weeks ago I stopped altogether :) I dunno how but its just easy for me to give up wen i know im pregnant, however all my mates that have been pregnant have said how hard they found it! have your doctors not been in touch with you on tips of how to quit?

This is probably going to turn just as nasty as all the other smoking threads. Iv quit straight away with all 3 of my pregnancies. Didnt even cross my mind to smoke when pregnant. You just dont.

Google the affects of smoking on an unborn baby.

I'd also recommend as a quicker option as I know i don't have time to read books!! (i don't smoke, but my hubby did, and he used this and after 10 years smoking hasn't touched one in 2 years!!)

The same book is also available in a DVD!! Allen Carr 'The easy Way' it's a great dvd! It's quick and it really really really works!!!

I can understand an addiction, but i totally cannot understand putting a baby at any even a 'possible' risk... Please give it a go! :)
