Has any1 found any great snack ideas if u av GD? I'm really struggling with my food as it's pretty much same thing day in day out cos I'm too scared to change...

I've found couple of crackers and some cheese give me an energy boost until later, but don't affect my bloods. Dry roasted nuts to, only had a handful though but they've been fine. On some occasions I've had crumpets. I have a very long gap between lunch and dinner (11.30 lunch and 6 dinner) so I need a decent top up around 3 when I finish work so I've tried all those things.

Nuts and seeds

Yogurts - natural or homemade with blended fruit

Rivita with topping

Homemade low sugar cakes

Sugar free jelly

Lumps of cheese or meat like pepperoni or cheese strings

Fruit!

you know they told me not to eat grapes and watermelon? I almost cried!

Try them and see if they send you high. Watermelon doesn't send me high.

I agree with you. I tried them today and they didn't make me high at all. I have watermelon too so that's next on my list.

I'm hoping this link works for snack ideas, this is what I was given:

Cut tomatoes and cucumbers and dip them in Hummus.

I make smoothies with greek yogurt. If you need a protein smoothy, use 1/2 c greek yogurt, 2Tablespoons of peanut butter, half a small banana, some flax seed and agave nectar for sweetner.

Agave nectar is similar to hunny but is low on the glycemic index. You should be able to find it in your healthfood store.

Another smoothie can be used with berries. Berries are also low on the glycemic index. Blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, cranberries...they're all very healthy and shouldn't cause your sugars to raise too much.

I have strawberries cut in a bowl with cinnamon (which is known to lower sugar levels) and add some sugar free or low sugar whipped topping.

1 hard boiled egg and two hard boiled egg whites only.

crumple chicken and make add a little celery to make chicken salad.

pasturized mozzarella cheese, cherry tomatoes and cut up cucumbers in Italian dressing.

small whole grain slice of bread toasted, melt some mozzarella cheese on top and add a sprig of fresh basil.

I'm a diabetic on insulin pump so this is pretty much my life. If you need a good site to help you with meals Rawbetes or Diabetic Mommy are two very good sites to help.

I'm craving peanut butter now because of that PDF file lol

Thanks for the suggestions. I go for my Glucose Test tomorrow... I hope everything is in order.
