Last weekend I dropped Lola's afternoon bottle, she doesn't seem interested in it anymore so I've decided to just give her a snack in the afternoon instead. Its good timing really because she starts nursery in 2 weeks :)cry:) and will only let me give her a bottle so it could have been a problem anyway!

So, I'm now stuck as to what to give her for a snack. I'm wanting it to be finger food...I've been giving fruit, rice cakes, organix baby crisps, baby biscuits, smoothie....but really need more ideas. I also don't know how much to give her. This afternoon I just threw a selection on her tray and she ate...half a digestive biscuit, one Plum spelt apple flavour biscuit, an apple rice cake, a carrot & pumpkin ricecake and 2 organix tomato wheels! This seems too much lol, but she can be a little piggy (I've no idea where she gets it from )

ricecakes are a staple for us, I get the baby mini ones for days when we're out and about, but at home I offer the normal unsalted plain big ones, spread with different toppings - current favourites are Philadelphia, Phili & Marmite together, peanut butter, pumpkin seed butter, and fruit spread.

I also offer little scotch pancakes (drop scones), I make them myself so there's less sugar and no salt, and also so I can vary them (some I add raisins to, or blueberries, some I make bigger, some smaller - I do a batch and freeze them). he has never rejected one, and they are also good for adding different toppings. :)

as for amount - Adam would have 3-4 mini ricecakes, or 1 full-size one, or a piece of fruit, or a handful of berries.

Daisy loves crumpets or little sandwiches or anything spread on toast.

what about little pieces of fruit? An apple, some grapes, strawberries .....

We discovered Humzingers in Sainsburys last week. They're sticks of 100% fruit. LO loved them.

I've also struggled with snack ideas. His latest favourite is malt loaf. If he's in his highchair I put butter on it but if not it's moist enough to eat without so no greasy fingerprints. And one loaf keeps for ages.

Not sure how much refined sugar it contains but some baby biscuits have lots so I'm not going to stress.

william loves just plain bread sticks and he munches away happily on those and also sticks of cheese go down well too

This is Adam's new favourite, too - must admit I only glanced at the ingredients in the shop, think I recall there was not much salt but didn't notice the sugar... unfortunately it doesn't last long in our house, as OH likes it, too. Seems quite claggy/sticky without butter, though.

Ruby has bread sticks for snacks (2-3 mini ones or one big one), small bowl of chopped fruit, 1-2 baby biscuits like Plum spelt fingers, one smoothie pouch, or a small handful of raisins.

Breadsticks!!! sorry completly random but it's the one thing I mean to buy every tiem I go shopping but forget to

Matthew isn't a big fruit fan which is a real nightmare for snacks etc but he seems to be liking banana slices and tinned manderins at the minute (make sure its the ons in their own juice/water and not syrup). He decided to go off melon and apple :dohh:

Another good snack he loves (especially when he's teething) is cold cucumber sticks straight from the fridge!

Thats me gonna get some breadsticks then! Never thought of them :D Thanks peeps!

SL - Lola isn't a big fruit lover either. Well, she likes it but I think she just gets frustrated because its too slippy and she's very impatient!!
