SO ANNOYED! dont need this crap!

The phone rang yesterday... so i picked up to some indian guy telling me he was from such and such a company, and that he can see I have debts (dont owe a bloody penny to anyone)
so i said '' no mate, i dont...''
he said ''credit cards... loans...''
I said '' never had EITHER in my entire life.. so dont call me again''
he said ''sorry to bother you''

and that was that, til an hour later.

i told hubby to speak on my behalf, but indian guy wouldnt and put the phone down on him. 1471 says they withheld, or the caller did not leave their number.

this morning at 9am, while still in bed enjoying my day off the phone rings again, so I sprint to the phone ready to give hell, and the idiot on the end of the line puts the phone down after a few seconds of me saying '' hello?''
I thought '' thats it! 1471....the caller withheld their number'' grrr

so 20 mins ago, i was sat here posting and all of a flipping sudden

'RING RING' so i LEAP out of bed, nearly kill myself on the stairs from running so fast, get to the phone to be greeted again with the same old slam the phone down gesture. 1471 gets me nowhere... IM BEING HARASSED BY AN INDIAN CALL CENTRE AT 6 MONTHS PREGNANT AND CAN'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT! i swear if i fall down them stairs from running for the phone i will SUE the asses off someone! what can i do?

Can't you put a block on your phone that stops it from taking in withheld numbers? If someone tries to call you without a number they get a message telling them that the number they are dialling is not accepting annonymous callers.

not sure how it works but it can be done. try asking your phone company?
sorry I'm not much help... is very frustrating being bugged by companies on the phone

didnt know you could do that! wicked babe thanks, will get hubby to ring virgin. Does that apply to people who dont leave numbers too... for example, the 1471 lady voice said '' we have no number for this caller'' I presume that meant withheld but she normally just says withheld if it is.. confusing!

i keep getting summat like that but mine is a fax coz it beeps at me always but has no number.
i get them from 5am untill 8pm its annoying.

If you register with the telephone preference service it's actually illegal for people to call you (unless you've requested a service from them). I think you have to give them 28 days or something after you've registered but it's really worth it - I used to get about 30 calls a day in my old flat and within a couple of days of registering I had none... BT put me on a list blocking call centres etc from calling me, but unfortunately they can't always block the international callers. Are you listed in the phonebook? If so get yourself removed, that should help.

pretty sure it works whenever you get a number that has no number (confusing) calling.. withheld or otherwise.

Omg i once had people ring me day in and day out...and i finally found out that it was o2. I rang them back, demanded a manager and i have to say he was the most idiotic person ive ever spoken to and he was as helpful as a chocolate fire guard. I still get phone calls...i just say "no she aint in" and hang up.

That happened at the start of my pregnancy and it was even the same company sometimes when i had asked them not to call me back and they said it was automated! i went mental! it got so much that i had to change my phone number and you know what happened the day i got my new ex directory phone number! a fecking indian call centre called me! i asked how the hell they got my number before i had even had time to memorise it and they said it was automatic dialing. now I am still getting answering machine calls with boring info that want me to hit a key and pay them stupid amounts. Its ridiculous! ex directory should not have these poeple calling but BT cant stop it if they are random number dialing.

And I have near broke my neck pregnant to get to that phone and that happaned to. ASk BT to change your number dont bloody pay them to block them as you cant get all of them. It happens on every phone i have had and i never give my phone number out.Why the hell would you do biusness with someone who invades your privacy like that?

I've been meaning to register since we moved and have just done it today too as I've had loads of calls in the last few days...kept forgetting to do it! It doesn't usually take 28 days and it's really good - and if anyone does call you can just tell them that you're on the list (I've never had to though) and they know it's illegal - should be a nice way to get them off the phone x

im with virgin so i cant call bt, and im ex directory too which is weird as to where they got my number! bloody fools xx
