I had an appointment with my doctor today. (I have to see him every two weeks.) I have gained 9 pounds in 11 days and I have been watching what I eat very carefully. He said it's due to fluid retention and he's already concerned about the potential for pre-eclampsia. According to him, having twins increases the risk. He said our goal at this point is to make it to 36 weeks.

My daughter was born 6 weeks early due to pre-eclampsia and I was really hoping for a more peaceful pregnancy this time around.

Sorry, I don't mean to whine. I'm just so frustrated and discouraged.

Aw, hun you're not whining! Pre-eclampsia is serious stuff and you're bound to feel a bit down about it as youself said, you hoped this pregnancy would be different... Well FX its just a blip and you will be fine, hun. All the best and :hugs: xxx

At least they are monitoring you carefully! The fluid gain is disheartening but they will work with you every step of the way to make sure your babies make it here safely. 36 weeks would be really good, I think 37 weeks is the longest they expect you to go with twins?

:hugs:

that IS discouraging :( so sorry about the fluid. i am swelling up like crazy as well, but i am way further out.

did he discuss dietary changes with you? honestly, cutting out sweets and salt while REALLY increasing water consumption can do wonders for swelling. it sucks, but it does work....

hugs.

He said to cut salt and carbs. I'm going to give it a try and see what happens.

Good luck hun, try not to get too discouraged ,am sure if u are trying to make small changes it will make a big difference,:hugs::hugs:

I'm sorry hun... hopefully that is not the case and all is just fine. Just do what you can... I'm sure the babies will be OK either way... but not fun to hear I'm sure! Best of luck :hugs:
