so furious at consultant re: c-section !

ok this is going to be a long one !

i had my specialist appt today and it was horrible !
My due date by ALL the scans (ive had 3!) and my period was the 22nd february. well went to the appt today and got told we would be booking in my c-section today so off he walks and comes back and tells me my section is booked for the 23rd feb ? i said ill be 40+1 is that right? and he said and quote "oh yes we have changed your due date to the 28th feb?" im like "wtf why?" and he said "my boss (meaning the head OB who is going to cut me open" liked that date better" i got really really angry, i mean i was in tears asking why on earth they would change it and all he kept saying was "my boss is happy with that date" . well thats nice but im f*cking not !!?!?!?!?! i kept asking why change my due date when NOTHING has pointed towards it being later? and he just kept saying "oh its only a date" and apparently whether they recorded my due date as the 22nd or the 28th i would still have the c-section on the 23rd. but i dont believe that to be true at all !? they wouldnt let me go overdue surely !?!?!?!?!? and he kept saying, its only a number. so i said "if its only a f*cking number and my c-section date wont change regardless, why flipping change it in the first place?!" i got really angry, screaming and crying. im not impressed that this man just pulled a number out of his ass !!!! i live on an island and there is a high chance im going to go into labour before my c-section considering ill be going a day overdue ! after my last labour im really traumatised and i cant do that again ! also if i go in to labour in the middle of the night there is no way i can get to the hospital until morning when the ferries start running !
im so upset like u wouldnt believe! and he rang 'his boss' in front of me explaining how angry i was and his boss just told me 'too bad' ?
do i have a right to complain ?!!??!?! should i be getting the c-section earlier that 40+1 ?! im so angry.
anyway my section is scheduled 23rd february .

Whaaaaaaaaaaattt! Here they like to do c sections at around 38weeks. Id be asking for a second opinion!! X

agree planned sections im sure always happene week or 2 before due date....

i would be fuming..... and YES COMAPLAIN.... total asses!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They like to do them earlier so there is less chance of you going into labour. If you go into labour and have a c secion planned its then classed as an emergency c section xx

Oh right, yeah that did happen to my friend actually, section booked for due date but she went into labour a couple of days before. Itwasn't a problem though.

Its all about stats. No hospital wants to be seen with a high emergency c section rate x

not just stats but generally people have a planned c section coz its better for mum and baby so they dont want to risk natural labour when it could potentially cause major problems for mum and baby.... breach baby for example....

im so angry at the way i was treated and the lack of care he seemed to have !
i live on an island and if i go into labour on my own in the middle of the night before my planned c-section , i cannot reach the hospital, and will have to try giving birth naturally on the island

I'd be really upset even if I didn't live on an island without a hospital! Yes deffo complain! U must be so worried! Don't see how he can just change you duedate what a wanker! I was 10 days early with my son and am worrying this time if I neeed a planned csect I'll go into labour before the date! Hope everything gets sorted out xxx

Sweetie, an EDD is just that estimated, unless you were looking at the sperm and egg that made your baby you dont know exactly when you conceived.

Don't get tied up on a date that is only an estimate, a guess based on scans that can up to 20% out and a date of your period which we all know can fluctuate.

Plus...you wont be over due at 40 + 1!!! A normal pregnancy can last up to 42 weeks. It is normal.

If you are adamant that you suffered too much trauma last time that you cannot consider a vbac in case you cannot get to the hospital if you have SOOL then I would write and explain you situation and access to the hospital is limited and can the CS be scheduled a week earlier.

This is the problem with OB's...they are knobs given the chance.
