I have said to hubby before how sometimes his mum makes me feel awkward and she can come across as quite overbearing when she visits or we visit her. I hardly get to have anything to do with the wee man when she's around and she just plain ignores me when I'm talking because she cuts across me to chat to Elijah.
Anyway, he's always defended her which I would expect so I gave up and said nothing more. But yesterday she just did something that I could not keep to myself.
We were round the in-laws for dinner and both his sisters and nieces and nephews were there so it was a full house. I was in the middle of giving Elijah a bottle and she came over and was chatting to him which I've mentioned to not do before because it distracts him and he'll stop feeding. But then to top it off she moves my hand that's holding the bottle, as if she didn't think I was holding it properly. She did this in front of everyone! Even the SIL noticed and looked at me.
And then we were talking about his sleeping habits and I said that he doesn't really nap for very long now during the day, usually only 15-25 mins at a time which means I struggle to get housework done and have breakfast and lunch during the day. So she starts saying that I shouldn't be complaining and making a deal about it when he sleeps all night and that there's nothing to complain about. I wasn't complaining, she was the one who was asking me the flipping question about his naps!! It made me feel so awkward because I wasn't complaining about my boy at all.
When we got home I said to hubby about it and he finally agreed she was out of order with moving the bottle and everything! Maybe next time he won't leave me feeling weird and actually say something at the time.
