I just got my positive ovulation test, got so excited, and now i feel like I want to cry because one of my friends mentioned that late ovulation can mean that the uterine lining and egg quality will be no good :( I'm on cycle day 43. Can anyone give some input? Am I doomed? Oh PLEASE!!!! I have been waiting for this, I just don't want to be excited if its a bleak situation :nope:

God I hope not. Im not exactly a 14 day ov'er

Not at all! i don't know where your friend got her information but it's wrong. not everyone has a perfect textbook 28 days cycles. lots of women have a longer cycle which mean they ovulate "late" (although, I really hate using this term). As long as you're ovulating, you're on the right track to become pregnant. However, ovulation alone is not an indication of the quality of your eggs. you can't know the quality without tests. Stop worring about it, though. You're just gonna make yourself crazy! and stop listening to your friend.

My friend has a five to six week cycle and has a one year old. Don't think there is much truth to that theory.

I have a long cycle and so ovulate 'late' if we go by the day 14 guide, as you can see I had a baby ;) xx

phew! well, i have always ovulated late, I think, since i have always usually gotten a period every other month. I have three children, but in the last three years I have also had 3 miscarriages... So it freaked me out

As others have written, your friend is absolutely wrong. What matters more is your Luteal Phase. It needs to be long enough to build a healthy uterine lining. Yet even if you have a short LP, you can carry to full term.

In reality, we all have good eggs and bad eggs. If a bad egg is released it usually won't fertilize or won't implant. This is one of the reasons we only have a 20% - 25% chance of getting pregnant each month. It has nothing to do with when you ovulate. Those of us over 35 (don't know if you are included) have more bad eggs (love that they call our eggs "old") which is why we are closer to the 20% range.

On another note, you do have temps that are irregular, a long cycle and numerous pos OPKs throughout your cycle. Have you gone to see a doctor about this? It could be a hormone imbalance or cyst which can be easily fixed. It could also be PCOS or a number of other things. Or nothing. Diagnosis can be your best friend. Once you know if there is something out of whack then you can treat it and work around it. Your friend may just be a bit mistaken. A long cycle can be an indication of a problem, just not the problem she stated.

Just don't worry unless you have to (easier said than done, of course).

Thanks itsawonder, I am only 24 years old. I do not have PCOS, ultrasound confirmed that I don't have it, I had my FSH tested, my thyriod, and my prolactin levels tested, everything came back normal. So I have nooooo clue lol, and there are no patterns to my cycle, everything happens whenever it feels like happening, quite frustrating.

im proof also my 5 year old is from a 50 day cyle and this bump is from ovulation way past 40 days :-) my sons fine and this bump is going
fine :-)
