DS2 is 7 and a BIG Ninjago Lego fan but also struggles with building the larger sets because of his ADHD. He gets so far before he gets annoyed because he wants to play with it but can't build it fast enough. We have over the years, gotten him Battle for Ninjago City, Nindroid MechDragon, Final Flight of Destiny's Bounty, Ninja DB X, The Lighthouse Siege and the NinjagoCopter which are all decent sized sets with over 500 pieces but he's never completed a single set on his own. He LOVES his Ninjago but just can't do the bigger sets. He will do the smaller ones but he just didn't have the right mindset to do the bigger ones even though he's asked for them all. Anyhow, his Santa present this year was this: https://www.amazon.com/LEGO-Knights...&qid=1514965707&sr=8-20&keywords=nexo+knights
Hubby and I didn't think it would be any different to the other large sets he loves playing with once they have been put together but we were seriously wrong. He opened it Boxing Day, put the blanket down in his room so he wouldn't loose bits and to keep DS3 out of it and spent the last week slowly working on it, on his own, focused and quiet for hours on end. He's been that focused we forgot he was home and he forgot to eat! He came out today really proud of himself and said he'd finished it - and he has all by himself!! I had to go see his hard work and other than a couple of smaller builds in the set, he's done the big one by himself with no help from us - he's even made sure he was careful and precise about putting the stickers on too. I am so, so proud of him I don't know how to explain it. Never in a million years did I think he would actually do this especially being a set aimed at 9-14 years! And in true Ninja style, he has his heart set on the biggest Ninjago set so hubby and I have talked and have decided that we are going to get it for his Birthday. He's proven he CAN do a big set so we know he will surprise us with his next one even if it is going to take him 3 weeks this time to complete.
