I have always bf whenever and wherever. Now, I don't just whip out the boob for all to see, I do cover up. But if someone has a problem with it then that's too bad. I can't believe we live in a world where bf is considered indecent. Our society, at least in some places, has decided that a breast is a sexual object, and it can be, but not when someone is bf. Luckily, I have never had anyone come to me and ask me to go somewhere else, like the bathroom, to do it. I can't imagine what I would do (to keep myself restrained) if they did.

I'm American living in the Netherlands and BF is highly promoted here. You get more comments for not BF than BF. Me personally, am too shy in general to bf in public and take bottles when we're out. However, if LO was hungry and not taking bottle I'd put my shyness aside and bf if needed but cover up as best as possible

I've noticed friends back home in the US getting negative comments on bf in public (mostly from men or non-mothers) but these guys all have no problem seeing breasts flashed in movies, magazines, etc as exploiting women as sex objects.

Heaven forbid we exploit ourselves as nuturers and mothers.........................

I was in a shoe story with DH and kids a few months and started talking to this woman who was bf. She was somewhat covered but you could see part of her breast and areola. Of course it didn't bother me and she seemed completely comfortable even when DH came up to ask me a question. But I did notice several men just oogling her and I felt bad for her and wanted to say something to them. But she obviously had no problem with it and if she is comfortable then more power to her.
