My baby is 4 months old and has been sleeping through the night for almost two months so I get a solid 8-9 hours a night but for some reason I STILL feel exhausted. I know breastfeeding takes a lot out of you but is it normal to still want to go back to bed an hour after being up, or to NEED to take an afternoon nap? My only other thought is that maybe I still need to be supplementing with iron? I do take a multivitamin and eat very healthy but near the end of my pregnancy I needed to supplement my iron.

I am jealous that you get this many hours sleep lol!

It could be an iron thing, are you also getting to a deep sleep state? If you are waking several times throughout the night to check on bub, or waking to LO#s night noises, then even though you are getting a full 8 hours, you will still be tired if the sleep is not deep. I used to go to bed a few hours before OH & would always wake when he came to bed & would feel so exhausted the whole next day!

I was going to suggest the iron deficiency thing! I dont think there is any harm in getting your blood checked.

Also eating more iron rich foods to see if this helps?

There is also the thyroid that can get looked at as well.
