So I've just been watching an episode of The Big Bang Theory & Sheldon is talking about chilli - he says if it's got beans in it it's not chilli.

I've always put kidney beans in my chilli - but then I'm from England!

So my question is - what's it called if it does have kidney beans in it??

Chilli Con Carne :haha:

My DH (American too) says its not Chilli if theres beans in it! I think we just say chilli because we cant be bothered to say the rest in England, not because we dont know what it is!

Actually, it really doesn't matter. Some chili has beans in it, some doesn't.

He says that because texas style chilli has no beans in it and he's from Texas :)
The con carne bit means with meat :)

Kidney beans freak me out  they remind me of insects!
I put a tin of baked beans in my chilli or just a tin of tomatoes.

I hate kidney beans:sick: much prefer chilli without it.

the beans are pointless, they don't even taste of anything and the texture is gross! x

To be honest I've only started not picking them out in the last couple of years!

I always make my chili with beans! I think it's just a preference, not necessarily a cultural thing.
I love Big Bang Theory btw!

I love Big bang Theory too!

I think its the same either way too :D

I put baked beans in ours too as the kids aren't keen on the kidney beans!

To me it isn't chili without beans! If they're are no beans it's just spaghetti sauce imo haha.

I love kidney beans. also It doesnt really matter whether you have a chili con carne, or a chili ;)
