I am so worried at the moment, I am almost in tears. I'm not sleeping, i'm not eating.

Basically, I worked 40 hours pw in a nursery before going on maternity leave at 37 weeks. OH got made redundant in April. As I am classed as still being in fulltime employment, he is entitled to nothing at all from the government so basically all we are living off is tax credits. My mat pay only just covers the rent.

We did a budget before and after everything is paid for, we have £35 a week...to buy formula, nappies, food and petrol so he can go and see his daughter. After formula, nappies and the petrol (the necessities each week) are paid for, we have £6 a week for food.

We are in arrears with the council tax that they wont accept anything less than £15 per week on top of the £102 a month for and have said they are in the process of sending bailiffs around.

LHA and council tax benefit people are taking there time and it looks like we have another month next month at least of living like this as they need another payslip off me that I wont get till the end of this month. I am already at my wits end. Me and OH already only have just one meal a day....and choose whether to have breakfast, lunch or tea. We already restrict ourselves to one loaf of bread and two pints of milk per week. We have quit smoking, drinking, buying and eating chocolate and nice things like that so what else can we cut out?? LO's 0-3 clothes have come off freecycle for free.

How the hell are we supposed to live?

Hi

I have worked for hb/Ctb for the last 13 years

When did you put in your claim? They should by law make a payment to you 14 days after receiving the form.

If they are also holding up your claim waiting for a payslip, and they already have some. They should assess your claim based on what they already have!

Give them a ring and explain what your situation is and point out that they could assess on what they already have. It's also not good for there stats if they are holding up claims so unnessarily! What other reasons have they used for calculating your claim?

hiya. have they said why your husband is not entitled to any benefits? if he's worked for the last 2 years and paid tax and national insurance he should be entitled to contribution based jobseekers allowance for 6 months. x

Hiya,

Broke my heart reading that. Try calling turn2us they may be able to help or suggests benefits or something. I think they are a charity organisation. Worth ago?

I so hope things get better for you soon :hugs:

What a relief!!! You should still check the benefits calculator to make sure you are not missing out on anything though.
