Some advice please .... OH SA results - 0 morphology :(

My other half SA results where pretty poor, 25% A and B grade sperm but 0 Morphology (no normal shaped sperm) we have been told to be referred to the fertility specialist but if he has 0 morphology surely IVF or IUI is out due to the fact he has no normal sperm? Has anyone been in the same situation?

I didn't want to read and run but my heart goes out to you - we have male factor as well. With ICSI I don't know if the morph. matters? I'm not sure.

We have a 5% morphology, and all the fertility testing on me has come back normal. OH has had 2 SA done and they have both been the same results. I am not sure what the RE is going to recommend as our next course of action, but I think it might be IUI. I think that if they wash the sperm they can get some good ones to use. I will let you know if our doctor recommends anything in particular to help remedy this problem.

I just wanted to pop in and share what our Dr said regarding the Morph because it made me feel better (we have 0 normal also)...

First, he said that the strict method counts every single little scratch or dent on the sperm as abnormal but a lot of them are still 'adequate', and that we still have 15% of conceiving naturally (I know it's not 85% but there is still a chance!!)

And he said that the morph inhibits the ability of the sperm to get through and into the egg, so IVF with ICSI is totally do-able (just pretty expensive and all), oh, and he said morph sperm does not affect the baby (because the goods needed are far deep into the sperm), hope that helps a bit!!

similar situation over here. SA 5 million, no class A, 4% class B, the rest disqualifies and they are barely moving at all. our specialist scheduled another SA for Jan and was talking about ICSI. But he said that the chances with ICSI are really good because my test came all back perfect.
So I guess it is sit and wait for now.

Hi, when the doctor says zero morphology, it also includes sperm that are perfectly okay but have a kink in the tail. Means it has all the substance needed but just can't swim to the egg. With ICSI, the embroyologist will help the sperm into the egg so there's no worry there.
