Wohoo! I have received my letter with my first FS appointment for the 1st june. I know there have been some threads on here recently asking for advice for the 1st FS appointment, but I still have some questions if anyone can help please?

I was wondering if it was important where I am in my cycle for my appointment date? Does it matter if I have AF at the time or is it better cancelling and waiting for another? I don't want to waste any time!

I've already had bloods done;CD21 (or CD26 in this case) came back with a progesterone reading of 56, which my GP said might mean I ovulated. My DH had a SA and with a good count but only 25% motility which I didn't think sounded too impressive..anyone got a crystal ball and have any ideas what the FS will do next?? I know it's only 3 weeks away but I am a stressing already!

Hey hun

Your first appt they will just take your medical history and DHs history - GP info, weight etc. They'll want to know if you have any kids, any medical issues etc. Normally at the first appt they will make a second appt for you - in the meantime they will schedule some tests for you and your DH. There were 3 months between our first and second appts to ensure we had all the tests done.

Our 1st appt they scheduled an HSG for me and a transvaginal scan - nothing griefy at all. I had my bloods done and both came back normal. It may be that if they are unsure of your progesterone they may repeat the bloods? My DH had a second SA done to see if there was any improvement. Then when you have your next appt they will decide what is happening next.

Re your DH's motility - did your GP give you any advice? Sperm matures every 70-90 days so changes he makes now will be reflected in 3 months time. The usual loose underwear, no hot baths, cut down on alcohol can all help. Hot baths or even warm baths can really effect motility (DH went from 25%-50% by avoiding baths). Also, taking a good multi vit like Wellman and 1000mg of vit c, maybe some Maca can also help. Who knows, if he gets into his route this weekend, you could be pregnant before your 2nd appt!!

Good luck xx

when i went for my first appt they done an internal. i was mortified coz i had my af at the time, but they said not to worry... so no, it doesnt matter where in your cycle you go for your appt at this stage xx

Thanks for your replies girlies, that information is very useful!
My GP didnt give any advice re SA results, but after looking on here I have already banned DH from hot baths and beer, but I think he's getting fed up with being shouted at everytime sits down and crosses his legs!

I've given him some vitamin C and Zinc tablets, what's this Wellman you mentioned? Do you get it from Boots?

Thanks for telling me about the internal scan thingy, I won't be too comfortable having it if AF is here, but I'd rather get it done with and feel like some progress is being made. At least now I feel a little more prepared. :)

I guess it varies from PCT to PCT - the scan and the HSG i had done, were done at a specific time in my cycle (around ovulation) and you have to sign a disclaimer regarding pregnancy etc. as they flush your tubes.

Yep Wellmans you can get it in Sainsbury's, Boots - pretty much anywhere. It's about £7 and has everything in it that the fertility experts recommend - all the stuff you can't pronounce!!

I'm forever glaring at DH when he cracks open a Bud..... in fact he has gone out without me tonight so he can drink in peace

i was really uncomfortable when they asked to do it and i explained i had af. they made me feel more comfortable, and i thought, god they prob do this 20 times a day, and see some sights, at least i take care of myself down there . im quite lucky i have really light af's aswell.

try not to stress too much babe, i know how hard it is though

xx

Ah, thanks for all the help and reassurance. New questions seem to keep popping up every 5 minutes! I do tend to stress easily though, which I'm sure is not helping this TTC business (as my mother keeps telling me..)
