It's been a long time since I've been reading these posts but after my losses I felt comforted from reading positive stories and knowing I wasn't alone, so I wanted to share my experience with you in the hope it would bring comfort to somebody.

By 22 I had suffered 3 first trimester losses that no-one could explain. After the third one in August 2013 I was referred to a fertility clinic to have every test possible. During the internal scan in December the lady told me she could see I had ovulated very recently and that my womb was responding as though I had conceived!
You can imagine my mixed emotions especially as all the tests were going to be a couple of months wait- anything could happen in that time and I knew only too well I had no time to spare.

I spoke to the sister on the maternity ward at my local hospital and sobbed my predicament to her and she sent me a prescription for Progesterone pesseries 800mg a day- these are given usually to IVF patients to give extra 'support'.
This was around new years eve and a stressful time to try and get anything done with all the bank holidays let me tell you!! Off I went at 6 weeks pregnant for my first scan a week after being on the dreaded pessaries expecting the worst only to see a little grain of rice heart beat.

Back we went every 2 weeks with me in tears thinking it was all over..I got to 8, 10 weeks..then 12 (!) and was discharged from the clinic after all my results came back showing no reason whatsoever for the previous losses
I kept using the pessaries morning and bedtime until 14 weeks. Everytime I felt a twinge or went to the loo I expected blood, it hasn't happened this time. I'm now 4 weeks from my due date with a baby boy and although the anxiety never goes fully away I wanted to share my story with you because there is hope after a loss/losses.

Some say progesterone is a placebo but others it saves lives, literally. If I didn't have the pessaries I would still be in this forum TTC not weeks away from giving birth. Please, please ask your doctor about them it won't do any harm as the progesterone hormone naturally occurs in the uterus anyway and supports the embryo until the placenta takes over- hence why I never got past the first trimester! I cant promise it will work for everyone but it saved my baby when experts couldn't find any reason for what happened to me. I personally think all women should be given them after 1 loss not have to suffer over and over until they finally refer you, after all the fertility clinic found nothing at all wrong with me so common sense would suggest all I needed was that extra support of the progesterone hormone. I wish I knew that years ago but I'm grateful for this chance and will never take my baby for granted.

Good luck ladies I hope this is the month and you go on to have happy healthy babies!!
xx

Thank you for sharing, it s great to get to hear positive stories and very interesting on the progesterone front, it sounds like more women should be offered it rather than told to wait for more miscarriages.

So pleased to hear you are finally getting your rainbow hope the birth goes well.

Thank you so much for sharing!!!! I have had several chemical pregnancies before being offered progesterone supplements after ovulation. The first month we were given the progesterone - it worked and I carried my baby girl till 9 weeks. We lost her, but it was due to a chromosome abnormality so nothing to do with lack of progesterone. It gives me hope for when we try again cuz I'll def. be using the supplements again! :)

Good to hear your story! After 2 losses my gynaecologist has suggested progesterone supplements and I have been in 2 minds whether it is a good idea! (I have read so many conflicting ideas on the internet!) I may have had a faint BFP today so now I think I will get it confirmed and get on the progesterone if so!
