well i never thot id be posting this but i am 18 weeks pregnant and soon to be single. my husband was arrested this week for Domestic Assault. i knew i had to leave to protect my baby and i was told i would never get preg to begin with. i'm not sure how i'm going to do this or how custody arrangements will be. i don't want my baby left alone with him at all but according to my uncle who is a narcotics officer they prly wont even punish him and he could get joint custody which i don't think i could handle!!! please any advice would be great on starting over and makin a great life for me and the baby

I'd be really surprised if he got joint custody or any unsupervised visits after being arrested for domestic violence...but maybe I'm just being naive. I'm not sure where you live, but I know my sis and her hubby were thinking about seperating while she was pregnant and she said the law is very protective of women and their babies especially for the first year (for BF'ing etc).
Good luck hun!!

i hope so. i don't want him to get anything but that but my uncle is doubtful

I recently had similar worries but my mind was put at ease yesterday after a meeting with social services. They were very nice and just offered me support. They also said that they would at first refuse access wen my baby is born but if he is persistent they would ensure supervised visits only. And better still they would pick baby up from me and take them to my ex, stay with him and baby then drop baby off. Also I won't be putting his name on birth certificate which will make access even harder and take much longer to sort out. Well done thou for leaving, be strong and don't go back, things won't change for the better. Sending u big hugs and lots of support. Xxx

Huge relief to read this for me too. I am terrified that FOB will track me down to gain access to child. I am fine if he is supervised...but terrified of him having un supervised access.

I no its not quite the same, but my ex was violent towards me when I was prg with Emilia (2 in Oct), he the decided that he didnt want the commitment of a baby (when i was 30 week prg).

He has only seen her 3 times, but occassionally comes in with threats about going for full custody, a couple of months ago, i saw a solicitor and was told if he tried to go for full custody they would laugh him out of court
