So I just went on my doctors office website for Auroa, you can now check on your test results online, anyway in 2009 or 2010 don't remember which, I had some testing done and my Vitamin D level was only 19 and it is supposed to be 50+.... well they put me on 50,000 iu pills twice a day for two weeks and then 2000iu ever since. Well back in February of this year then I had some more testing done and my vit D level is down to 16!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And the doctors office told me that all my lab results were normal. How in the ****** hell is that normal!!!!!!!
They are totally screwing with my health and now my regular doctor isn't in the office until wednesday and neither is her nurse.... well wtf am I supposed to do? OBVIOUSLY something isn't right with my body! Perhaps this is why we haven't had an oops baby in the past fricken 7 years!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am so disgusted right now I don't even know what to do with myself.
Thanks for listening me to rant....

That is rediculous. Hopefully you can find some care so you can get on track for your bfp soon. Good luck.

What makes me even more upset is that at least three times in the past year everyone including myself swore i was pg.... vitamin d deficiency is linked to miscarriage...............

this is awful! If I were u I would write a letter of complaint and demand some answers. ...this has prompted me to ask about my 'normal' blood work I got done last week, hope u are okay
x

Sorry to hear your upsetting news! If I were you, I would start requesting copies of all of your labs. I do this at all my appointments, and keep a copy in a file at home just incase I ever switch providers. Each lab value should have a "normal" range. They are typically flagged with an H of L to indicate high or low. Granted, just because a lab is slightly H or L is not always a huge issue. Some of my labs are always a few digits above the high or low, but does not actually cause need for concern. However, you would be able to tell if there was an extreme value.

I also am Vit D deficient. I was put on the same meds as you and then tapered off. I continue to take it on my own from the local drug store throughout the year, especially in the non-sunny months!

The "normal" range is listed on the report. My level is half of the low end of the "normal" range. And the report has it highlighted and list as low... which is why I don't understand how they possibly could tell me that everything was normal!
When my level was 19 two years ago they were all concerned, and now when its even lower at 16 they say everything is fine?????????!!!!!!!!! I don't think so!

Another cause for concern is that I do take 2000iu EVERY day..... so no idea why my levels could be so low.

I know this is going to sound like a dumb question, but do you take your Vitamin D with fatty foods? Taking it with meat or with peanut butter may help in better absorption. And are you on any medications on a daily basis? Because some medications might sap up Vitamin D and other nutrients in the process of metabolizing them.

Either way, I agree that it's completely out of line that they didn't let you know there was a Vitamin D deficiency. Demand answers and don't take that kind of treatment from them.

wss^ also there are vitamin d solar lights you can get that give your body the much needed vitamin, the doc should really have tread this more carefully vitamin D deficiency is also linked to thyroid issues and depression, i say they need to get their sh#& together!

kcmb0886 I always take it with breakfast or lunch which is always containing some semi-fatty food. And the only other thing I take daily is a prenatal vitamin.... which in of itself contains 400iu of vitamin d I believe.

Wow that's not right at all. I would go crazy at them!

I would be super mad. This is something that is serious, esp since vit D deficiency is linked with m/c - 7 yrs is a long time, and for them to just tell you your results were 'normal'... that's not right! I would def be putting a complaint in!

I'm going crazy not being able to call my doctors nurse about this crap! I NEED to get it taken care of asap! I have no insurance figured out yet, as of August I have none!!! I can't be having expensive tests or whatever done if I don't have ins. I was vitamin D deficient two years ago too and they had never done tests to see if my levels went up to normal after the high doses they had me taking..... which makes me think that something could really not be right! :growlmad: I hate the doctors here!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, they can be really very annoying sometimes...but dishonesty is what would make me switch doctors. Seriously. I would ask your friends if they would recommend an ob/gyn in your area. Chances are they will know someone. I'm so sorry you have to put up with that kind of crap! That's something they should have caught, and if they did catch it like you think (b/c it was highlighted) then they better darn well have had the decency to tell you. I mean really, I would be infuriated! Hoping things will work out better for you soon!

OMG!!!!!!!I just got off the phoen with my doctors nurse about my test results.
Her answer was just take 4000iu instead of 2000iu a day............. umm HELLO!!!?????? You're not even going to do another blood test to see where my levels are??????? Don't even want me to make an appoinment? ABSOLUTELY FRICKEN NOTHING AT ALL!!!?????
