*Sorry TMI* Amniotic fluid smells like semen?

I know I've been pretty active on here these past few days, excuse that..

I've been experiencing a very small leak the last few days... Just a spot on panties... Not sure if it's mucous, pee, or amniotic fluid... It doesn't smell sweet or like ammonia.

Yesterday, I was thinking it smelled like semen down there... we haven't dtd since last sunday and I'm now on pelvic rest. I showered to see if it would help, but it didn't.. When OH came home he started sniffing around jokingly (I hadn't mentioned it_ but could smell the same thing I did.

Then I was reading today, after trying to figure out if I keep peeing myself a little bit or if it's amniotic... and I read that amniotic fluid can smell like semen! Anyone else know?

I have heard it has a mild bleach like smell and kind of sweet. Semen would be comparable, but really the only way to tell without a proffessional amniotic fluid sniffer around would be to go into the hospital or clinic and have them test a drop. They do it all the time. Would be the safest route....good luck!!

With both my pregnancies the dr broke my water...and it smelled like semen. But I think its different for everyone.

I've no clue honestly even at the hospital they wouldn't know unless they tested it. If you keep leaking definitely go to the hospital and they'll know for sure. Please update us.

My water was broke at the hospital with DS so I didn't get a sense of what it smelled like, but if I remember correctly from reading about it, I think it's supposed to have a slightly sweet scent. Honestly, when I am pregnant I ALWAYS smell like semen down there regardless if we've recently DTD or not.

Hiya. My waters went with my son and it did smell of semen. But i am 29wks and some days i ho to toilet and i smell the same smell. So i dnt think it would be anything to worry about. But if in doubt get checked out. X

They say amniotic fluid CAN smell like seamen, or can be kind of sweet smelling (which you said yo were not experiencing), or have no scent at all. If it smells a little like bleach/chemically it's probably urine. When you first notice wetness check it's consistency to have a better understanding if it might be mucus or discharge. If it's been happening for a few days, how often do you feel the wetness happen? a few times a day, or just maybe once? If your not sure try changing your panties often and see if it keeps happening. I had a very slow leak when pregnant with my son i dont recall smell at all, but after changing a few times and having the wetness continued I called in and they had me checked sure enough it was my water. good luck!

I read only today while i was looking up early labour signs that your waters can smell like semen yes.
