I am quite new on here so apologies if there are threads on this topic that I haven't found.
I am confused about soy isoflavones to induce ovulation. I have looked it up on the internet and although there are lots of sites, they all seem to be a repeat of exactly the same information without any scientific evidence as far as I can see.
The mechanism by which it is supposed to work sounds feasible, but I'm wondering if that's all it is, a theory that 'fits'.
Has anyone had success with using it? If so, how much did you use?
My cycle seems to be getting longer and longer, with later and later ovulation and I would love to be able to feel I had some control over it.
Thank you in advance ladies!
xx

Good question! I've been wondering the very same thing. One article gets bounced around in 100+ blog posts but I haven't found anything else.

I took 120mg cd 5-8.. I missed cd 9 on accident. From what I could find it's supposed to improve the follicle. I havent found any scientific evidence either but I thought, what the heck and gave it a shot. I'm also using softcups this cycle too.

I have found a lot of forums with ladies swearing that soy helped them conceive, but it doesn't work for everyone. Guess I'll let you know around the 10th if it worked!

I have been wondering the same thing too! I'm considering taking it next cycle, but haven't quite convinced myself that there is conclusive evidence to make it worth the possibility of screwing up my body even more...

Thank you all. I have always eaten a lot of soya as I've been vegan for twenty years. Whether it ever affected my fertility for better or worse I could not say; we have one son, but the journey to have him was a long one. Before I was vegan I had dreadfully irregular, heavy periods too so all in all I don't think it can have made much difference. The population of China is the largest in the world and they eat loads of soya, which suggests it can't be that detrimental to fertility!

I don't think it screwed up my body, since I had a positive opt last night 3 days before I was supposed to ovulate. I'm having O pains, sore boobs, and pimples... which I usually only get before AF not my O surge. So I think it's going to be a good O this month!

I know that eating soy and taking it while pregnant is bad for the baby and can cause birth defects in males, but I think it's ok while you're trying to conceive. But...I'm not a dr :p

I also had a positive opk today, hoorah! At last. Day 24.
My gut feeling is that soya, like any other food stuff, would have either no effect, or a subtle effect, on the menstrual cycle, and inducing ovulation sounds a bit too dramatic. But like you, I'm not a doctor!
Did anyone read on the internet that peas are supposed to have a contraceptive effect? But like the soy story, it's the same info regurgitated several times, so whether there's any truth in it is another matter.
