Hello, so my question is have any of you ladies tried soy isoflavones? I have PCOS and me and DH have been ttc for nearly 7 years and I had my first pregnancy in August 2012 (but sadly miscarried) by using Clomid. Well, my first two cycles of clomid made me ovulate and the second cycle I conceived but for my third and fourth I had absolutly no response.

The next step for us is to try injectables but me and DH don't think we can afford it and we know we can't afford IVF. We have money to raise a family and take are of the bills but all this extra money for treaments is running us dry. I have heard mixed things about soy so I just wanted to see what you ladies have heard about them or if you have tried them.

Thank you all :flower:

im ' SUPPOSED' to start taking pregnitude...i think its the same thing..my ob says it has helped many women who where not able to concieve.....so here is to hoping....

I did two cycles of soy after having an anovulatory cycle. I ovulated both cycles but it took a long time and caused loads of positive OPKs, I think the problem though was that I took a higher dose than I should of. I took 150-200mg each cycle when I probably only need 50-100mg each day for the five days.

The good news is that the only side effects I had were good ones, I slept amazingly when I was on it and it improved my CM massively. I've also had shorter cycles since taking it, it seems like it reset them which is what I was hoping for. Every now and then I take one capsule during my cycle and within a day or two I notice more CM.

I think it's worth trying for one cycle at least. I did read somewhere that if you do three cycles of it you should take a break after.

I took SI, i have short cycles of 22/23 days with a 9 day LP, but I do ovulate, so wanted to see if they would help increase the chances of more eggs and hope to catch one (or two  )

My experience wasn't great, but i don't regret trying it! I O'd early on CD 9 - usually CD 12/13 - i nearly missed it!! However i then bled (not spotting) from O to AF! I went to the Dr as i was concerned i'd done some damage, but she just said the cycle would be a wash out and not to take them again as they are obviously not suited to me. I behaved as i would in any TWW as my temps were still doing their 'normal' thing... but it was a washout

I took 120mg for 2 days, 160mg for 2 days then 200mg on the final day.

GL x

Thank you ladies, I appreciate the input. I am just trying to decide if I should try them or not. I have PCOS pretty bad and I am also on Metformin for it. Maybe I will give it a try this next cycle if I am not already working on a different treatment.

i would SO recommend soy kimiw :)

i have PCOS too and didn't ovulate on my own. the first cycle i took 80mg, 120, 120, 160, 200 CD3-7 and didn't ovulate at all, had a 50odd day cycle (can't be bothered looking at FF :haha:), so the next cycle i upped it to 200mg and changed the days to CD2-6, ovulated on CD19! :happydance:! i did three cycles of soy (ovulated on CD18 of the following one, and CD26 of the one after - that was later because i started taking B vitamins, i think they delayed ov!), and then i suspect i ovulated on CD18 of the cycle after my three soy cycles because of the soy, i know that sounds daft but the same thing has happened after my femara cycles so i think i'm right :haha:

anyway, i would highly recommend 200mg CD2-6! :) we have MF too so i reckon that's why i didn't conceive, i definitely ovulated though :hugs:

I used clomid to conceive my first (no cycles for 8 months, poly cystic ovaries but not PCOS), I then used clomid again and conceived but had a m/c at 7wks. Then after a few natural cycles with no luck I tried soy isoflavones and conceived DS2 :)

I took 50mg of clomid (cd5-9) for DS1 and 100mg SI (cd4-8) for DS2. If I were to try for another baby and it wasn't working naturally I would defiantly try the soy again before doing clomid.

2012 i had stillborn 2013 i had mc now i am using soya isoflavones, pre-seed and soft cups in order to get pregnant. I have no fertility problems using soy to make my egg stronger. I also take 75mg of aspirin to thin out my blood because my stillborn was due to severe pre-exclampsia, i take folic acid on it on and a multi vit also with folic acid in. This is my second cycle on soy preying this cyle is the one for me!

I've bought some soy and think I might take it next cycle! so this was good to read! when is af due to arrive? maybe we could compare and see how we go xx

I posted the above quote a while back ^^^^ and wanted to add that i actually (in sheer frustration with my FS not giving me clomid) tried them again on a much lower dose! I had great results on 80mg CD3-7 - not PG but that because i've found out this week my tubes were both clogged - one is now free flowing after being flushed with the HSG! It stopped my LP spotting, i got a 25day cycle instead of 23... so next cycle if this one is a bust i will be doing them again on the same 80mg dose and days. x good luck x

. I tried them but got absolutely no response, didn't ovulate.

@25Dawky1994 - I wanted to send you a PM but I am new and I do not think I can, I apologize in advance if this post is not appropriate - it is OT. I just wanted to make sure that since you are TTC they have done the full fertility work up on you due to Pre-exclmapsia - I am sure you know this but on the off chance you do not, they now know that 80% of woman who have it happen also have a blood clotting disorder. I had it with my now 10 year old son, and only found out last fall I have a blood clotting disorder as well as MTHFR which also effects clotting. It was not until after I had 3 miscarriages in less than a year did I get to see a specialist and they explained the connection and now I have hope with blood thinners, so the reason I had to say something is if I can help any woman avoid the heart break I have gone through, than I have to.

Best of luck!!

It made my O a few days late, which I didn't appreciate since I o late already. It's been a few cycles now and my O us still late too. I also had bad Pms symptoms on it. Don't think I'll take it again.

i started the pregnitude and i can actually (feel) a difference....

i feel pinches in my overies well before my O time...this how more then just soy I in it...my doctor wasnt lying about this...i hope it means good luck...3 yrs is a long time

Pregnitude has two ingredients. Inositol and folic acid. Both are FANTASTIC at working together to regulate cycles. There are PCOS forums dedicated to inositol that describe numerous health benefits, including ovulation, shortened cycles (like from sixty days down to 28), less anxiety, less weight along the waistline... If there weren't so many women explaining the beneifts I'd be WAY more skeptical. But hearing how it lengthens the luteal phase to a more friendly 14 days instead of nine or ten is what sold it for me. Take it at night because it can make you sleepy. There is no soy in Pregnitude. If you want to save money, just buy inositol powder and folic acid seperately and take the same dosage. Pregnitude is WAY too expensive for what you're getting. Google some reviews of inositol and you'll be amazed! I was floored.

Just wanted to jump in and say I used soy for my last cycle and got my bfp, if anyone wants to ask questions I'm happy to help x

Hello! I've been ttc #2 for almost 2 years. I had long cycles, and most likely some anovulatory cycles. My ob/gyn prescribed clomid (it's still sitting in my dresser drawer:shrug:) but I wanted to try Soy first since I had heard so many great reviews and that it had less side effects.

I am on CD5 now and am taking soy 120mg CD3-7. No bad side effects, just slight headaches. Will keep you posted on my progress:thumbup:
