I've been having these odd pains not sure what they are let me describe in point form. Can it be spd? I think I had it with my first pregnancy but only at maybe 36 weeks...

Here goes:

- my crotch hurts and burns but from the inside like my bones if that makes sense. If I touch it it feel bruised but isn't.

- when I take off my underwear and stand on one leg if even for a sec it hurts! In my groin area...

- today while I was walking it hurt when my legs part not when I'm standing feet together

- getting up from lying down hurts
- no clicking in pelvis though
- pushing something with my feet sends pain in my groin

All of my discomfort seems to be centered around my groin area and where my inner thighs join crotch

This is really the best way I can describe the annoying feeling. It's starting to get worse and it's bothering me. Turning over in bed sucks too! Does this sound like spd or am I looking at another issue altogether?

Going to my dr on Friday so I'm for sure going to mention it. What do u think? And what helps?

I posted this in response to a thread started by LaughOutLoud, who's been having similar symptoms:

Baby centre gives these as the symptoms of spd:
Back pain, pain at the back of your pelvis or hip pain.
Pain, along with a grinding or clicking sensation in your pubic area (which you don't have but I don't think you need all symptoms to qualify!)
Pain down the inside of your thighs or between your legs.
Pain that's made worse by parting your legs, walking, going up or down stairs or moving around in bed.
Pain that's worse at night and stops you from sleeping well. Getting up to go to the toilet in the middle of the night can be especially painful.

They say that going to the physio and strengthening the support muscles around the pelvis can help.

Thanks. I was wondering because I don't have the clicking or actual hip pain! Weird...

Hi Lalia

That sounds just like my spd :(

With DS1 I only had it in the last month or two.

With DS2 I had it from 16 weeks, I had it constantly but it got better and worse in stages.

I went to physio but it was crap well my one was I'm sure some ppl have had better experiences, they pretty much told me what I had gave me a badly photocopied page 2 exercises I should do which I couldn't because of the SPD pain and sent me on my way!

Then i went to a Chiropractor and it was like magic, the relief was only temporary but only because I insisted on hoover and mopping my floors which set it off again.

The worst things I can do are:

Hoover, Mop & Sweep.
Drive for too long.
Put a heavy shopping trolly
DTD on top

They say if you try to keep your legs together as much as you can when getting in and out of the car / bed helps too.

The good news is mine went away 100% after DS2 was born but I know some ppl do suffer after.

I've also heard of ppl using a belt, i got this but it was so uncomfortable and unslightly (huge muffin top) I never wore it.

I have it again this time. Its bad but not as bad as last time but I think its because I know a bit more about what I can and cannot do, I still do my floors but take a break in between hoovering and mopping and never ever do upstairs and downstairs now and I take a hot bath/shower straight away after if I can.

Hope you get relief.

:)

Oh also alot of ppl say they cannot part their legs but I always could they say to tie a string joining your knees before labour at your comfortable point so you don't do any damage but and stretch further than you can but I never had this type of pain. and some ppl say they are so stiff in the morning getting out of bed from it but I was quite the opposite and used to love going to bed cause I knew when I got up in the morning I would be much better!!

So def not everyone is the same with SPD

:)

It does sound like it. My pains are more unusual. I do t have trouble parting my legs but when I get out the car I can't lift my legs for a while to unzip my boots. It's like I freeze. My entire bottom is achey, more like the muscles I think?...Like I've been standing too long. I'm wondering if it's possible to push a baby out from there now if there's already so much pain? I wonder if it's going to cause more damage? I have a crack somewhere in my hip-don't even know how that happen! I hope you feel better soon x

Thank u banana for the helpful tips! Some days are definitely worse than others but generally it's a nagging pain. If I do too much in a day I feel it so much more! Esp if I walk a lot. I wasn't sure if it was spd bc my hips don't click and my bum doesn't hurt its more my groin. Sometimes it feels as though I rode a bike for hours... The muscles and bones in my pubic/crotch area are sore it's so bizzare. When I part my legs while walking is when it hurts the most ! Hope it doesn't get worse because it sucks

I had it in both my last two pregnancies and can feel it very slightly already. My third pregnancy was the worst through so I'm hoping it doesn't get too bad this time.
It was always worse when walking and at night, I never got clicking with mine either and neither did my sister, I don't think you have to get every symptom for it to be classed as SPD.

I'm suffering for the third time, mine was confirmed as pgp/spd with exact same symptoms as yourself. The only thing I was offered that actually worked was acupuncture to the pelvic bone but I know this isn't widely available in all hospitals x

I have pain in my groin when I get up from sitting (relaxing) or from bed most days. If I am moving often, there is no pain. It usually takes a couple of minutes of movement to go away when it DOES start. So uncomfortable. I am going to let my doctor know tomorrow. It's NOT fun.

Oh I hope this gets better fr you soon! Instead of a pregnancy belt (which can be super bulky and uncomfortable) I would go with clothing pieces that have built-in support. mumberry.com (just saw them on Good Morning Utah) has super cute and supportive yoga pants/tanks/tees/etc. with a belly-support band built into all of their clothes! Amazing!!:yipee:
