SPD & Cesarean Section ???

I went for my first phsio app yesterday, as I'm already suffering with SPD, and now have to wear a big belt to hold everything together.

I spoke to the phsiotherapist, who know me from my last pregnanies, about my birth experience last time. I'm absolutely petrified that I'm going to have the same thing happen again. SHe had to come up to my ward and help me to walk, as I couldn't get out of the bed. My pelvis had seperated due to Stirrups and Ventouse delivery, which was essential due to distress.

She has suggested that I see an obstetrician at the hospital to discuss options, including CS.

I'm just wondering how long it truly takes to recover afterwards? Leeanne ??

I'm due Sept 21st, would they do it early?? The kids are back to school then, and Ethan starts nursery 3 mornings a week. I'm just worried I won't be able to be 'Mum' and keep on top of everything, not to mention having a newborn !!

Any thoughts........... ?

I had a horrible gynecologist with my daughter. I was not dialating after two days of induction, had contractions, etc. My daughter and I were going through major stress and also I had meconium in the waters. Finally, my gynecologist gave up and I had my emergency C-section. Truthfully, it should have been done hours and hours prior.

They had me on a catheter and wanted to take it out the next day and wanted me to walk around. No way in hell. My legs and feet were swollen like a balloon too...I think I had toxemia. It took me until the second day to walk around, a bit.

I also didn't want to bug the nurses for pain medication so they would come in an hour or so later than when I should have had it, or when I was in absolute pain I would finally bug them.

Honestly, it took me two-three weeks to finally truly feel better. I still had some pain until the 5th or 6th week.

With my second, which was a planned C-section, I was up and walking the halls of the hospital with my baby the next morning. I learned from my first to bug the nurses and ensure that my pain medication was given every four hours.

When I got home, I was able to carry my 18 month old too. My hubby and I were separated at that time too so I had no help around. The only downfall, she was sick with bronchittis and so was I. The coughing and the incision was painful, but I would have probably been doing very well if I didn't have the cough.

It makes me wonder if because of the two days of hell with my daughter before she was born, that that made the recuperation of the C-section much harder and more painful! I truly think it did.

Each C-section is different for each woman. But, seriously, if you were in pain from your pelvic separating, etc. what would the difference be for you. It's better to prevent that from happening again!

I've heard other woman on here who have had a planned C-section state that they deliver in their area at 39 weeks. Here it is 38 weeks. They want to do it before you go into labour. It's certainly something to discuss with your doctor.

Thankyou so much. Your first birth sounded like a rought ordeal, bless you It's reassuring that having it planned was less hassle.. and that you could walk the next day !!!
It took months to be free from pelvic pain, so it definetely sounds like the better option.
Pity they couldn't do a tummy tuck at the same time !!!!!!!

What's the scarring like.. if you don't mind me asking ?

I generally scar very easily. However, I was looking at mine the other day and it is barely noticeable.

Plus, the incision is made just above your pubic bone. If one wore a bikini, etc. you can't see it.

I always said that about the tummy tuck too. However, it wouldn't work as your uterus, stomach muscles, etc. need to go back to normal

I was also thinking of getting my tubes tied while they have me open too but hubby is taking the bull by the horns and is getting done instead YAY!

Now, just remember if you go in for a C-section, bug those darn nurses and keep your pain medication on time! That's the tip that is utmost important

I asked for sterilisation after the birth, but they won't do it here until 6 months after the birth ( God Forbid, but in case anything happened ). DH nearly fainted on the spot when I gave him the leaflet on vasectomy My doc recommended the Marena coil, which gives out hormones, and has the same success as sterilization. I've already booked in for 8 weeks after due date
This baby is very much wanted... but it was an unexpected surprise, and not one I want to repeat !!!!!!!

Hmm, never heard of the Marena coil. Ah well, hubby can go through some type of pain this time.

I was actually going to get my tubes tied during the C-section with my second but the gynecologist talked some sense into me. She said, what if something happened to your child and you wanted another one. Very true and at that time I was 32/33 so was still a bit young and didn't want to finalize my childbearing back then.

Well, I perhaps should have then but I've been blessed with a third. BUT NO MORE!

I've googled it and can't find an actual site for it.. only other forums with people opinions on it.....

actually... just googled again, and wikipedia states that Mirena is a US coil, and doesn't even say you can get it in the UK.....

ask your doc, you could have it anyway as double protection

My friend suffered with SPD from about where u are now and she was induced 3 1/2 weeks early due to the amount of pain she was in! i'm sure u'll be watched very closely and u can opt to be induced or c-sec. Hope u dont suffer too much! xx
