Spelling help!

Elliott because it seems more complete and tends to be the most common spelling. my auto text spelt it as Elliott also

Elliott...it just doesn't look right the other way. PP is right about the most common

I prefer Elliot.

It's the most common spelling here (in the UK). I also think it looks nicer written down

It was on my list if my first baby was a boy. As I understand it, the '-ot' ending is a diminutive - ie just a way of shortening or adapting a name - so 'technically' that's the correct spelling.

Great name

Thanks guys :)

It's the only boys name we can decide on!

I always said it would be with the double tt but I'm now starting to doubt myself, I'd hate for people to always spell it wrong and miss off a t...

Elliott is what I prefer but that's how all the Elliott's I know spell their name. I'm in the UK

Just to add to your spelling dilemma, there's also Eliot : D I know one of those.

I think sometimes you'd have to spell it out whichever way you choose. Some people struggle with the simplest of names, so I pretty much automatically spell everything out anyway. Even simple names like Sarah can be spelt wrong, and, of course, if you're also giving a surname then that's another opportunity for a misspelling : D

I suggest you write it down with your chosen middle name and your surname and try the various spellings and go with what looks best.

Middle name is more than likely going to be Jack, surname isn't that difficult but does have a silent L that often gets missed out!

Will give a try tho I'm swayed towards Elliott, Eliot just looks misspelt to me :)
