Hello fellow TTCers!
We've only been trying to conceive for 6 months, both 36 years old. My oh just had a sperm test, they called with the results and sounded really negative. Sperm count good but only 10% morphology (when it should be 15%, although when you look on the internet this is questionable) no quick swimmers but 45% normal (apparently it should be 50% - 25% quick swimmers and 25% normal swimmers). So we went to the doctors and she wasn't so negative as the people in the lab - she said it was possible to get pregnant naturally. My oh is now on a fertility vitamin supplement...But then she suggested insemination with clomid...What do you all think? Is this a bit soon or should we start on that road already? I have crohn's disease so am wary about taking any new drugs and the doc also said she didn't know how it would affect that.
But anyway, a funny side to this story - the doc gave my oh some tips and one was never put your mobile phone in your front jean/trouser pocket, put it in your jacket or back pocket. Well, just the next day oh phoned me to tell me his mobile was broken - because he had put it in his back pocket and sat on it!!:haha: This ttc business is working out pretty expensive!!
Baby dust to all

Sorry your DH's results weren't all you hoped :hugs: But hopefully with some supplements you may see an improvement

Afraid I can't help on whether you should wait a bit longer or try insemination with Clomid.

I have seen how ill a friend gets with her Crohns so what you have to think is if you get ill with your Crohns from medication would it possibly be counter productive to the TTC process?

Maybe try and find some more info on Clomid and Crohns. Do you have a specialist for your Crohns? If you do then maybe speak to them to see if they know how Clomid may affect you.

Sorry I can't be more help but hope you get your BFP soon:dust:

Thanks for your reply Macwooly. I do have a gastroenterologist so I will discuss it with him. It just seemed, after 6 months of trying (and 2 of those without the fertility monitor...) like jumping the boat going for insemination/clomid etc already. I don't know if the doctors in the UK would suggest this so fast, German doctors always seem to want to operate or medicate asap!!
Keeping my fingers crossed for you too:hugs:

I think some GPs in the UK are just as eager to intervene medically!

Hi there , sorry I don't know the answers . Were also trying to make tis choice , my dr seems to think we should get in the intervention road. I'm thinking this too , only because even then there are no sure fire answers. I think as soon as drs hear our age its the first thing they pin everything onto ! must be even trickier for you , one of our closest friend has so much pain from her Crohns.
Good luck which ever choice you make. You know yourself the best:flower:

I think that they are probably pushing the clomid and IUI due to age.

It is appropriate and recommended to seek assistance when you are 35 or over and have been ttc for 6 months. Fertility drastically declines once we hit age 35, regardless of how young we feel, or how regular our cycles are.

Try to consider how many children you would like to have as well. If this is the last baby you want (or only baby), then I don't really see what harm there is in waiting a few more months.
If this is #1 and you want 2-3 kids, I honestly wouldn't waste anymore time. If you got pregnant now, you'd have a baby at 36-37. If you wanted a baby 2 years later, you could be 39, and hate to say that it can be really difficult to conceive when close to and above 40.

Good luck.
