i went in for my first IUI today, and our first sperm analysis since Autumns dreadful outcomes.

so when i signed my papers and she went back for the sample, i took a picture of my forms with the results.

the numbers confuse me but it may just be me reading it wrong.

im also confused as to why the morph percent wasnt on the form.

it read:
pre wash--- graded 2-3
volume 5ml
count: 68 x 10 (to the power of)6/ ml
motility: 58%

post--- graded 3
count : 155 x 10(to the power of)6 /ml
motility : 94%

our doctor said it was adequate, and i was already there, so it made sense to give it a go. im just not sure how before it was 68 and after it was 155....

i THINK the numbers are better than we had in the fall, but im trying to figure out how to read this.

all in all the first IUI wasnt a bad experience... had to have a few goes at it because the catheter kept falling out (hah!) my cervix was facing the floor and wasnt making for easy insertion. he was light hearted, i laughed through the uncomfortable moments, and had my nice 5 minute rest. i expected to lay there for up to 20 minutes like most have said but i was told 5 minutes was all i needed.

ill keep searching the forum for analysis information. i dont have anything better to do the next 3 weeks!

I wish I could help you but my husbands sperm count never increased. The set-up looked exactly the same as yours but my doctor broke it down for us even more.

Underneath all those stats would be (before wash sperm count #'s) then (after sperm count wash #'s). I would call your RE tomorrow and ask them for the specifics. The motility looks GREAT on yours!!!

Don't stress too much though about the numbers! My husband only had 5 million post wash and we got pregnant with our daughter. Both of those numbers are higher than ours were.

Good luck!!!:flower:

that is ok i appreciate the post and honesty! i may give them a call, im sure they are just dying to hear from me! haha ( i bother them, a lot)

i think im more worried about keeping a baby when i finally do get a positive( be that now, or months/years from now) .

i still have no idea how 68 turned into 155

Our numbers decreased last month too with pre and post wash.

Just remember it only takes one good swimmer!!!

The first one might be count per mL and the second a total post-wash count.

Either way the count and motility you have is great for IUI.

thanks yet again for the positive response. i was trying to figure out if units were different because that was the only logical thing, but it looked all identical. i just like knowing where i stand, and with all of this, it has been had to have a solid line of where we are.

thank you for all of the help, im really hoping this is 'all' we have to do but i just dont think it will be that 'easy' funny how confidence one day can immediately change to negativity in my head! hah
have a wonderful day!
