Spotting

My wife and I have been trying to conceive since November. Before that we always used condoms. She was on bc over a year and a half ago. Stopped and we switched to condoms as we were talking about having kids in the near future.

Since we have started trying she has started spotting. Never spotting between periods before trying.

Why could she be spotting every month now that we are trying?
