I have a 7 yr old SS who lives with me and my OH permanently and he really has no control over eating junk food whatsoever, he just eats and eats until there is none left or its time to go to bed, whilst sitting on the playstation all evening.

Last night he went to a school xmas fete and he came back with 4 of those caramel shortbread things and a large bag of chocolate crispie cakes (about 10 from all the papers I picked up from the floor) and ate all of them in about an hour, a bottle of pepsi he got from the fete. He also went into town with his grandma after school which meant he had a cake and for dinner burger and chips. In his packed lunch he had more biscuits and crisps (times when I have changed a chocolate bar for yoghurt or fruit, OH has sneaked the chocolate out and give it to him on the way to school and I find the wrapper in his lunchbox after school. He then spent all last night being sick.

Whenever I say something OH just replies with "I would be more worried if he was thin" or "if he doesnt it he will be malnutritioned" or "he wont get obese" yet he lets him stuff himself with junk food so he never eats his dinner, but its not that he wont eat it because he doesn't like it as when OH isn't here I dont let him have any junk food just fruit and he eats all of his dinner.

I did try and say no junk food in the house, I done the shopping and didn't buy any but then my OH still sneaks it in, I found a multipack of crisps in his car apparently for SS lunch because without crisps he is being "deprived".

It's starting to annoy me, if he doesn't learn to stop at one cake now, hes just going to get worse as he gets older an when we have our LOs he will be staying at home whilst I go to work as I have a degree and can get a better job than him and I am expecting to come home to kids stuffing themselves with chocolate.

I truly don't know what to say. If your OH isn't helping and is contributing to the problem, what can one do?

As we know, too much junk food is not good for weight, health, teeth etc.

Perhaps try sitting your OH down and explain your feelings on the matter.
