Stabbing back pains @ 30 weeks?!

For the last hour or so i have had constant stabbing pains in my lower back. I had an achy heavy feeling in my bump beforehand, kinda like when due to come on a period, but its now turned into back pain. Its a constant pain which comes in bigger waves occassionally, but its not like normal backache.
Do you think i should be worried?? I'm only 30 weeks

Can you ring your midwife for advice/reassurance? I had something similar when I was 30wks, very strong back cramps that came every hour - they lasted a few hours and I haven't had them since. I phoned the hospital to ask for advice and was told to monitor them and if they increased in frequency or intensity to call back. Thankfully they didn't but I felt better for checking.

Could also be kidney stones...had them during pregnancy with my son. Didn't feel well at all. I'll call and get checked.
