Today is Saturday.. I've only been in the 2nd trimester since Thursday (amen for making it past the 1st!)

On Wednesday, at my appointment with the specialist (I'm high risk so I see 2 Dr's each month), she did a urine sample (which they do at every visit) and found tiny traces of blood in my urine. She asked if I suffer from UTIs and, well, I never have. But now I'm beginning to believe it's what I've got... or had. The pain isn't near as bad as it was a few days ago when I pee, but now I can feel it in my kidney and it's very dull but painful. As today is Saturday, neither of my doctor's offices are open.

I would make a visit to the ER but the hospital here is awful! I go out of town for my OB and the specialist because of that reason.

What can I do to relieve the pain? We sort of just moved into our new home about 2 months ago and have yet to stock up on the necessities like a heating pad or Tylenol.

Any advice would be amazing!! I really don't want to hurt the baby by staying in pain if at all possible. Thanks ladies!!

You won't hurt baby :)
UTIs are horrible though, I've had a few on & off but half the time I couldn't feel it!
Taking a warm bath or shower is nice to help ease it until you can get a heat pad and congrats on getting to 2nd tri! :D

Honestly, I'd go and see a doctor. Can you go to another emergency department or out of hours family doctor? If it's a bad uti, you'll probably need antibiotics to make sure it doesn't turn into something worse like a kidney infection.
Warmth can help soothe it but you need to be careful to not overdo it as you're not meant to heat up baby. Pure cranberry juice helps some people but there is no scientific evidence that it should. The over the counter remedies for the symptoms aren't safe for pregnancy I believe but there's not much point to them anyway, since they don't treat the actual infection.

I'm sorry you're dealing with this. :(

I can assure you the pain won't hurt the baby on its own. However, an untreated UTI or kidney infection can actually be dangerous in pregnancy. Letting an infection go for too long can cause you to go into preterm labor. It's definitely not something to mess around with. If you aren't comfortable going to your local hospital, or don't feel it's that serious yet, then I would at least make an appointment to get it checked on Monday just to be safe.

Hope you feel better soon. :hugs:

Thanks ladies! This morning I woke up in no pain at all but by mid day, the horrible beast returned and has not eased much without lying down. I'm fine with resting my body but it seems that, although laying down helps to get rid of the discomfort almost completely, laying down so much makes my head hurt it seems it is a lose-lose for me. I have another appointment with my ob this Wednesday so, unless I can make it till then, I may see someone here sooner even though I'd rather not. I'll keep you all posted! Thanks again!

I had the same problem around 24 weeks. I actually posted on here, I didn't believe it was a UTI, but everyone had convinced me to go to the hospital.
Believe it or not the hospital had someone test my urine and check fetal heartbeat right away. (They don't like to waste time when it comes to pregnant women I guess).
Anyways test came back negative, they just told me to keep hydrated.
At least going to the hospital and being told there was nothing to worry about eased my mind :)

I finally got a hold of the nurse at my OB office and she called in some meds for me since it was already on file that I had the blood in my urine. Twice a day with Tylenol as needed for the cramps. Apparently I'm at the right stage in my pregnancy for the round ligament mess to start bothering me and with that plus the UTI, well, I'm in a world of uncomfortable pain right now 😣
