Start of ICSI in April - hopefully! any buddies?

When I had my consultation they didn't do a thing, no scan, nothing... we just talked. I know they had all our test results and everything was up to date apart from our HIV and Hep tests which were done over a year ago. At the end, he asked if we still wanted to go ahead with it and we said yes. He asked me where I was in my cycle (day 21) and said that because of my age and good health, a Long Protocol would be best and we couldn't start until day 1 of my next cycle. But because that was only a week away, and they would like us to attend a patient info evening, have a tour of the clinic where the EC and ET would be done, and then of course there's the injection training...well, it was just a lot to get sorted in 7 days so they've said we could start on the following cycle. Should I be concerned that no scans or anything have been done? I had my ovaries and tubes scanned back in June and July - no probs - and they did say that as long as the tests were done within a year of treatment, there was no need for more tests.

I think each clinic is different. I was told the consultation will include a scan. I have this on thursday. I've had my bloods taken and will just await this consultation before I know if I can start on my next AF which is at end of month.

I don't think you should be concerned, maybe they do a scan at a different time or maybe from your results they don't do it as standard. It could be as you say cos you had it done last june/july so theres prob no need. If u're worried call them but I would think that's why.

I haven't had any scans done so a lil nervous but hoping it all ok in there :)

Ok thanks :) I'm probably worrying about nothing as usual. Seem to be doing a lot of that lately... I can't believe I still have 5 weeks to go... It's going sooooooooo slowly!

Good luck on Thursday. I'm sure everything will go fine! :D

Thanks tickledpink, I know time is draggin! ugh!

I'll let you know how i get on :) xx

oooh - good luck for tomorrow!

I wonder if we'll have the same kind of wait then... our planning meeting is 7th April - that'll be CD24 so probably not enough time before the next cycle :hissy:
but I've had all my scans and tests done so hopefully it'll only be the injection training.
Oh - I don't want to wait yet another cycle. BOOOOOOO

You're right though... I just can't imagine what the 2ww would be like after ICSI...

Thanks cazd! maybe! I'm really hoping to catch this cycle at the end of the month. I can't bare to wait any longer! lol

Good luck cazd! :) :hugs:

Hi ladies, can I join?! Starting IVF/ICSI cycle in April (waiting for period so guessing I start in around 2 weeks). I am going to South Africa for mine and doing an 'Antagonist IVF' cycle. Anyone know what the heck that is?!
Also, no BCP's for me. Wonder what the difference is...
So glad I'm not along in all this. xxx

Hi Sabine,

I should be starting the meds mid april with EC and ET early may :) i have no idea what a antagonist ivf cycle is. have u tried searching on google? I'll have alook as week :)

gd luck!! xxx

I had my consultation meeting last week and no scans for me either.
They said that they'll discuss start dates at my planning meeting but that its unlikely to happen 'till the cycle after the cycle after that so there could be some waiting!

No idea what an antagonist IVF cycle is... I'm intrigued!

I had a scan and they put an instrument "up there" if you know what I mean! Was a bit of a shock I was expecting it on my tummy! :haha: but hey oh! The start of many surprises I expect!!! All was ok on my scan and it had showed I had ovulated too! Was funny to see it!

I'm abit behind you all. I have my first ICSI appointment next month. We have had all our test done though by the FS in Advance so maybe that will speedy it all up abit. I do have a slight problem compared to you ladies. I have no AF I had to be put on tablets to bring AF on for the HSG in January. I'm wondering if it's going to be a longer process for me with the lack on AF's :sad2:

Hi Aclio,

I'm not sure how it affects how long your treatment will be with lack of AF's but I hope it doesn't delay anything. Perhaps check with the clinic to put your mind at rest! xx

well I guess you'll be fine for the down regulation part - making sure the lining is super-thin... and hopefully the injections and hormones for the rest will keep you going!

All of my scans are internal - I'm glad about that - 'cos you don't need a full bladder for those!
