Starting baby on a bottle of formula

Formula did make my LO go for longer. The second night of the last feed being formula he slept for 5 hours as opposed to 2 1/2! I'd gone to bed right after the last breast feed and got 7 hours sleep - I felt like a new woman!

Hopefully it will work for your LO too! Massive well done for EBF for this long, you're a better woman than me! x

We did the same as you at about 6 weeks, introduced one formula feed at our bedtime. We had Cow and Gate bc that's what OH got when he was sent to Asda as an emergency in the early days when she wasn't gaining weight. We didn't use it until 6 weeks later and seeing as it has never given Elina any problems, I see no reason to change it.

Aptamil having more oomph - the PP means that it's a little more respected and promoted by HVs, MWs etc as being better quality. It is the most expensive but it's made by the same company as Cow and Gate. I read a post somewhere that someone rang the company and enquired about the difference and Aptamil has an extra pro-biotic added to it to make it different to C & G. All the formula brands have to meet very high quality standards so it's not like any of them are inferior really.

I think formula makes them "feel" full,so if you give baby a bottle at night it could work. Can't hurt to try. My son is FF and has been sleeping through night since 3 months.
