So I'm starting baby on solids this wk for the very first time. And i'm getting ready to go food shopping tomorrow. She's been exclusively Breast fed for 6 months now, and I plan to continue. I hear its best to start with Vegetables first and then introduce Fruits. How should I go about this? Please share how you went about it or are going to go about it. Hoping for Success. I'm a very picky eater..and I'm praying she turns out nothing like me, so I wanna try everything possible to get her to like veg. 1st. But so many choices!..Which do babies prefer best?

My boy loved sweet potato and broccoli. He also loved bananas :)

Butternut squash was a winner with both mine. Then we added more variety... potatoes, broccoli. Pureed apple & pear were first fruits and then banana.

He decided he quite liked the look of strawberry and grabbed one off my daughters bowl the other week. He fair enjoyed chewing on that x

To make these purees, I notice the recipes call for 1/4 cup or more of liquid. Should I use breast milk or tap water? LO has never had water before that is why I ask. When is it recommended to give babies water anyway??

I heard it's a myth about the veggie before fruit idea if ur baby is breastfed, apparently breast milk is very sweet so babies have already been having sweet food this whole time
My ds likes orange veggies best....sweet potatoes, carrots, squash, pumpkin etc

My babys fave is a mini "tree" of broccoli which she can hold in her little hand and chew on. It makes me cringe to watch cos i absolutely detest broccoli but she loves it!

To make them I just used to boil or steam them, then blend and if absolutely needed (didn't often need it) just added a little formula. They can have water from 6 months though, so whichever you'd prefer x

We started with carrot puree first, it went down a treat. Brocolli, cauliflower, swede, butternut squash were also liked. For fruit- pear, apple, banana are great...x

Mashed potato or sweet potato. Avocado & banana are a good first food too.
