Although I am trying IUI (hopefully) this month I went ahead and made first appointment at an IVF clinic outside the Navy health system. My doctor said if we could afford it that it was our best bet and faster than the over a year long wait for IVF at the Navy hospital. I spent last night talking with a coworker of DH that had it and had twin girls and used the clinic I am going to. I felt so much better after speaking to her that for the first time in a long time I am very optimistic. Anyone else gearing up for IVF?

I'm am and I'm terrified! There are a ton of meds and hormones involved , I'm afraid of what it's going to do to my body and the potential side affects never mind all the risk! I need some calming information if you have any!!

I'm also starting my first IVF next week! Super nervous I'll mess something up. Or something will go wrong. We only have the money to do this once. Good luck to both of you.

Hi, have no such experience of IVF but just not wanted to read and run. Fortunately, IVF is still considered as an effective treatment for major infertility or genetic problems. Yes, it involves lots of fertility medicines & I am not sure about success rate, but guess it must be good, giving you all a great hope. However, it is very important to weigh the pros and cons of treatment options with likelihood of success. Hope you are in good hands of care and may god blesses you soon with good news.

Just follow the basics and try to adhere to the advice given by your specialist. De-stressing is more important than the bed rest. So help yourselves by managing your stress, laughing, eating healthy, getting a little bit of exercise, avoiding hot tubs, alcohol and taking your vitamins. Few people also try acupuncture, believing it may enhance IVF success rate.

Hope it helps.

Hi Imogenmommy,

How are you doing with ivf? I'm just starting out, will be on the short protocol, probably starting injections at the end of January.

Wishing you well on your journey.

I have also read about acupuncture and the positive effect it might have on fertility. A friend of mine had acupuncture before and during her cycling at Gdansk ivf clinic in Poland. May be total coincidence, but she got pregnant at her 1st try
