Hi there - I'm new here, TTC for first baby, at aged 36.
On all the statistics I've seen it says e.g. a certain % get pregnant after 6 months etc. On what do they base their % i.e. how many "goes of trying" per cycle do they base it on - every day before, during and after ovulation; every other day, once - what?! Does anyone know ...

(I'm hoping its based on say, once, so that me trying every day before, during and after gives me a better %!) :laugh2:

welcome!

not to sure what they base it on but my doc said if we do it at least every other day after AF til ovulation our chances are pretty good but still no guarantee

good luck and may you soon have your BFP

Thanks willbeamom1day - coincidentally we have just celebrated our 6th wedding anniversary too! Also, I totally agree with your avatar - well said. Tried to send you a PM but haven't had enough posts yet.

stats relate to regular sex so every other day through the cycle
hope this helps ?
lots of luck & best wishes

Well, I've heard if you don't have sex you wont get PG
Sorry, couldn't resist. I think the stats are just based on how many months of trying before BFP and not how often you have sex or if you're even having it at the right time of the month.

That's what always makes me currious!! I keep wondering if you have higher chance if you know when you are ovulating.

If it is based on the number of months then there must be lots of months included in that stat where people never even managed to b'dance anywhere near the time they ovulate because of lack of knowledge, illness, OH's not been available (or willing) etc...

Although as my OH says to me everytime I try and quote any stats on pregnancy "70% of all statistics are made up" :dohh:

You made me laugh Thesmiths.

I'm glad I'm not the only one posting stats questions! I just posted one about a Fertility Friend study on the percentage of charts with implant dips turning out to be pregnancies.

I've also wondered the same thing as you and I"m afraid I don't know the answer.
