Does anyone know the revised amount of SMP we are entitled to since the changes for the new Tax Year?

What do your individual employers contribute towards your income and how much paid/unpaid leave are you entitled to?

Hope you don't think I'm being too nosey.

Hi dont worry about being nosey,im the same!!
Well i have been working for the post office i am in now for 11 months.... its a franchised one and not a post office one though and this is what i get........

6 weeks @ 90% pay
33 weeks @ statutory 117 pounds a week
last 13 weeks unpaid

that makes the year entitlement im allowed but i think mines pretty basic as its just a government funded one....some employers pay more.
I can go back whenever by giving 2 months notice to return to work.

It would be great to see what everyone else gets too

Thanks Sonny
I get exactly the same, although I was able to take all of my annual leave prior to starting my Maternity leave. I finished work last Friday and already I'm bored out of my skull. It is amazing how many things you can't do when you are 8 months pregnant.

Hehe!!
i left work on saturday and am having 2 weeks holiday as my step sons live with me and its their school holidays then my maternity kicks in.

To be honest though i really needed to stop the work as it wouldnt be so bad if it was just me to look after etc but my routine was,get up,sort boys out, take to school, rush to work, finish work, rush to school.....up one F*CK of a hill (dont drive),pick up boys, home, dinner, housework etc so im guessing my daily routine will get easier now!! :happydance:
Like you im worried that i might be bored but i this week the boys have kept me busy so we will see when they go back to school.

Not long now for you though and hope it flys for you until your little one comes.:hugs:

Any idea when you will return to work or are you just going to see how you feel with it all?

Fingers crossed I plan to have 9 months maternity leave plus my four weeks annual leave, giving me 10 months in total, so they are expecting me back at work in Feb 2009. I don't know if can handle the prospect of going back to full time though as my hours are 7.30 to 5.30, which makes for a very long day, and I'm sure that paying for childcare for those hours will take up most if not all of my wages. We will just have to wait and see I guess.
Glad to hear you haven't got to trek up that hill anymore, I can sympathise as I don't drive either which will pose a problem before too long as we live in the middle of no-where (once a day bus service is about it!)
Good Luck with your step sons school holiday and I hope you don't get run too ragged.
Best Wishes
Julie

My work offers:

6 weeks at 90% salary
20 weeks at SMP + 50% salary
13 weeks SMP

I am due back in work 5th Jan but haved saved up all my holidays so that I can go back on full pay for 12 weeks but only actually working 2.5 days a week. Hoping to go back after that just 3 days a week.

First 6 wks at 90% salary
Following 33 wks at £112.75 (or 90% salary, whichever is less)

I think SMP is taxable though and will depend on your individual salary as to how much you will get afterwards

I think i get the same as this, leaving in 2 weeks.. Does anyone know if you decide not to go back to work if you have to pay any of your maternity pay back? :hugs:

no u dont have to pay SMP back but if ur company offer extra payments u will have o re pay those xx

Only earnings above £84 per week are taxable so you shouldn't see very much deducted if you are only getting SMP.

I also have to pay into my pension for the last 13 weeks maternity leave so not sure how much I'll get left with.

I organised with my boss yesterday to cut my last 4 weeks down to 3 days weeks using some left over holiday to settle into my maternity leave. No idea what Im going to do with myself though.
