So we had our 20 week scan today and everything looks good and baby is healthy :happydance: I am so so relieved, I am such a worrier and I was so anxious about it. Can't describe how elated I've been today!

So DH and I made the decision to stay team yellow for this baby since it's our last and we wanted to do the surprise at birth thing.

We told the sonographer before we started that we didn't want to know the gender. So she goes ahead and shows us different angles, the heart, the spine etc. And then she showed us what I would call a potty shot. From underneath the bum, legs were wide open and showed us the cord.

The thing is, I saw 3 very distinct white lines. I wasn't looking for them, they almost jumped out at me. I know from this forum that 3 lines tends to indicate girl, doesn't it? With my 20 week scans with my boys they practically waved their bits for the camera :haha: But there were no signs of that with this one.

Question is, does this sound like it might be a girl? DH also thought that if its a boy, surely she wouldn't be showing us a shot like that because it would be obvious it's a boy.

Naturally we're excited either way, but it's fun to speculate!

Yep at my gender scan we were shown three distinct white lines and told baby was a girl, so could be! X

We had a gender scan at 16 weeks and before the sonographer told us what it was I had also spotted the three white lines. Sounds like it could be a girl!

Yeah I heard that like girly bits too. I will be fuming if the sonographer does that to me at the scan. :/

Thanks all. I'm ok with it twinmum, I think because I still don't know for sure and that was my aim. But I suspect that most sonographers would assume that the majority of people wouldn't know what 3 lines mean.

I have heard a lot of people say the screen was turned away from the parents when the songorapher needed to go near that area so I don't think it is common practice to just assume a parent will not know what they are looking it if it is all out on display. Even if not vocally confirmed I would be mad. Glad you are not and it has not put a dampner on anything for you, just saying thats how I would feel.

It was a real surprise to me that she turned the screen to us to show us that angle. I just couldn't think of any reason why we'd need to see it, since we didn't want to know the gender? Bit weird really, unless there was a problem with that area which there isn't.
