Has anybody ever heard of this form of labor pain relief (or heard of it being used for anything else?). I just read about it, sounds interesting!

Anybody had this done, or have any idea about its effectiveness?

I had actually read that in my last pregnancy it would be interesting to hear first hand experiences though

I haven't but my sister had them recently, she said they were really effective! She had a short labour, 1hr 20, so had no time for an Epidural, and as the pain was all in her back she had the water injections!

Only thing is they really, and I mean really hurt, they did 2 at a time to reduce the pain, she said they were like wasp stings! The lady who did my hospital tour said the same, that they really hurt for about 60 seconds!

I think they are most used for back pain during labour, and the lady mentioned they are used mostly for back to back labours, but not sure if that's only when they are used!

I had them in labour with my first. I wasn't coping well with back labour and my mw suggested them. I'd never heard of them before but was keen to try anything that would help me have a drug free birth. They definitely stung for about 30 seconds but nothing like the back pain I'd been experiencing and it was worth it cause they worked as my back pain went away and I was able to cope with labour after that.

These are offered in the birthing unit I'll hopefully be using. Prior to seeing the midwife there I had never heard of them either so will be interested to hear more first hand (and second hand) experiences.

I had 12 hours of unmedicated back labour and my midwife offered these to me (but we never got around to using them). Yes, apparently they hurt like hell when being administered but then the relief is quite good. I think they are used either for back labour or for when a woman in normal labour is having a lot of back pain/pressure. They can be used at home births (mine was an HB)
