Sterilising 11+ months

Just wondered how often you should sterilise bottles around 11/12 months? And when can you stop sterilising altogether?

I don't sterilize them anymore, I stopped at 12months. Just wash them well in hot soapy water

I don't really sterilise much now anyway, usually just wash them with warm soapy water with the bottle cleaning brush. As long as that is ok :)

I dont sterilize now anymore, they get soaked in hot soapy water and every couple days go in the dishwasher, which im sure is hot enough to kill anything anyways.

I sterilize every now and then. Sterilized them the other day because OH left the dirty bottles on the windo sil in the baking heat, needless to say the dregs of milk went seriously sour! :dohh:

I never do anymore at 8 months. I just wash them in very hot water.

I only do it every now and then and Tye is only just over 7months! Im sure at 11months there isnt much need to do it anymore, but do whatever you feel happy with!

I stopped at 6 months when my sterilizer broke lol and yes ryder the dish washer will kill any bacteria , anything over 70 Celsius is good

I still sterilize  but she has so many bottles and only has a few a day so I'm not sterilizing daily........only when I run out of bottles. Will do so until I cut out bottles completely

we stopped today! She has had her jabs and we wash them well either in the dihwasher or with hot soapy water so thats fine for me!

yep i'm still sterilising too  bottles and everything - its a personal preference once they get to this age, i will stop everything bar bottles and dummies after she's one - but milk bottles i will continue till she's done with them xx

I still sterilize like 2x a month, just the little pieces, like the stoppers in the sippy cups and pacifiers. The rest of it gets hand washed and goes in the dishwasher

MW's and HV's say you dont need to steriliser after 11months. however with both my boys i stopped when they started moving around floor and putting stuff in mouths at about 8months.

no matter how much i hoovered/swept the floors there was still going to be some dirt/germs etc that got missed and it seemed pointless doing the bottles and having them sterile for the boys to crawl on floor and pick up germs, never did them any harm

When i did my nvq we got told once they are playing on the floor and putting things in their mouth's there is no point in steralising their bottles aslong as they are washed in hot sopey water. They did recomend cleaning hard toys with milton every few mounths, especialy if other children have been playing with them as it stops tummy bugs from being spread.

i put ours in the dishwasher.. but she only has a bottle for bedtime anyway shes on beakers for the rest of the day

I'm going to stop sterilizing and switch to just washing in hot water when Elyse starts crawling. By that point lord knows what she's going to put in her mouth anyway.. lol.

i stopped sterlising when joel was 11 months

I stopped doing the sterilizing in boiling water routine at 4 months - when she started putting everything into her mouth. I wash them in the dishwasher now on the sanicycle and I'll continue to do that until she's no longer taking bottles. For spoons and sippy cups that I need in between dishwasher runs, I just wash those in hot soapy water.

We stopped with sterilizing at around 8/5-9mths and just used to give them a good wash in hot soapy water.

I thought it was pointless to continue to sterilise bottles when was advise we could stop sterilising weaning paltes/spoons @ 6mths. Plus RC loved to pick bits up off the floor and anywhere else and put them in her mouth.

Now she has 3 beakers, 1 milk breakfast, 1 juice/water through the day and 1 beaker for bed. these get washed with her eating things as normal in the sink
